  1. *From Bloomberg News:*

A Moscow court placed a US citizen under arrest for attempted drug trafficking, the latest of several Americans to be detained in Russia in recent years.

Robert Woodland Romanov will be held until March 5 under the order, the Interfax news service reported Tuesday, citing the court. Other details of the case weren’t disclosed by the court.

President Vladimir Putin said in December that Russia and the US were discussing possible prisoner swaps when he was asked about detained American citizens Evan Gershkovich and Paul Whelan. Putin said that any agreement between Russia and the US “must be mutually acceptable.”

  2. Let me guess, another “criminal” caught with a vial of CBD oil, which they will exchange for some Russian terrorist or arms trafficker, because the US administration cares more about them than their own intelligence operatives.

  3. How many times does the warning need to be given, if you are from the west do not fucking go to russia or iran or north korea or *insert other authoritarian shithole here*.

  4. Under no circumstances should you go to Russia. Really. Just dont go. I have family, and friends there. Still don’t go. It’s just not worth it any longer. Russian police can take you, and hold you, for anything, and for as long as they want. There is no oversight, or legal system. Nothing. You get put in the system, and they just keep you as long as they want. Americans tend to have this faith that the system, or some embassy will come get them. Not in Russia. No. As Putin says “power in Russia is a straight line going up”

  5. Why do they go to an authoritarian country that is known for taking hostage?

  6. At this point i think they are just collecting foreign citizens for negotiations.

  7. Robert Woodland posted on September 25,2022 in his Facebook:
    ‘To my friends & family,
For those who are worried about my safety out here in Russia with the current situation and the draft to military service. I’m currently okay. I have not recivied my letter yet. I am not in support of this war, but if my letter to arms comes, I will not turn away. I know this sounds like a stupid choice, but remember…. America had done the same back during the Vietnam War……’

I hope he will enjoy Russian prisons as much as he was ready to go and commit war atrocities in Ukraine for his pos government.

  8. You couldn’t pay me enough to visit that country. If my job wanted me to go, I’d quit. Even when that despot Putin is gone, there’s no fucking way.

  9. Well probably trade a deadly terrorist for them. We’ve traded less for a basketball player.

  10. Did anyone even read the article? It specifically says he has decided to stay in Russia forever. He returned after his biological mother was found.

He’s not exactly any sort of bargaining chip considering he said he would join the war if requested, and said he has no plans of ever returning to US. At this point he may have just torn up his US passport.

  11. What prisoner are they looking to barter for now.

  12. Why is anyone who isn’t Russian still going to Russia for any reason at all?

  13. He should have been arrested for being stupid enough to travel to Russia.

  14. My company is throwing a whole bag to anyone willing to do a two year contract in Moscow.

  15. Stop going to Russia. Meet your family in Turkey or something. Every American who travels to these kleptocratic shitholes is offering themselves as a free geopolitical pawn.

  16. It’s a discussion that I also have with my wife sometimes not related to this.

She always says, it’s not the person his fault, he should be free wherever he goes.

Mostly the discussion it’s about woman dessing sexy and walking alone at night through dangerous places.

I always saying, yes that should be the case, but in reality it’s not safe, even it has to be.

I should be able to keep my door of my house unlocked, but there is a reason why there is a lock. Because not everyone is friendly.

She tells me, yeah but that put the blames on the victim, not it isn’t. It’s just common sense that we know it isn’t safe.

  17. Hopefully one of the domestic terrorists that work to circumvent the constitution with the CIA, keep it up Russia!

  18. He’s not a gay woman of colour, there’s no arms dealer in the world worth a straight white male
