This rule is so silly that it will eventually lead a ton of people overstaying and becoming illegal.
Kind of defeats the Tories anti immigration rhetoric.
Perhaps they’re just anti legal migration and love illegal migration because this makes no sense at all.
The sole aim of Tourists not being permitted to work is to force them to return to their home countries since they wouldn’t be able to earn an income in the UK.
Maybe they would soon announce a new rule for visitors to have access to benefits and public funds too.
What other countries do a tourist visa I can use to work?
The urge to skip off this fucking island gets bigger.
Amazing, so this is the Tories solution to ‘reducing immigration to sustainable levels’ – they’re just tourists we promise!
clickbait headline
> While visitors can work remotely from the UK, the primary purpose of their stay should not be remote work.
Visitors can work remotely while they are in the UK (at their existing jobs). They cannot get a UK based job on a tourist visa

I mean the text of the article is quite accurate, but for all the headline-only readers:
* You can attend business meetings and other in person things on a visitor visa – **if** you are employed by an overseas office of a UK business.
* You can work remotely for your overseas employer (on overseas work), as long as working remotely is not the main reason for your visit – so no more visa fraud by logging in to fix that broken server for a day, as an example.
* Scientists and lawyers can do science and give evidence and other lawyer-y / expert witness things.
What you **still** can’t do is come over on a visitor visa and get a job in the UK, or come on a visitor visa and work remotely 5 days a week for your foreign employer.
The change is to merge in the separate Permitted Paid Engagement (PPE) Visitor visa in with the standard visitor visa, rather than administer two separate visas.
Bait. They can’t get a UK based job on this visa. Period.
From what I understand via work the max I can work in the UK without having to take up tax residency is 30 days a year. It’s really just to cover the odd day at a work conference etc..
So one of the funny things about brexit, which was sold mainly on the notion of people not liking foreigners, was that it would result in not a reduction in immigration but a shift from european immigration to non-european immigration .
Its very funny when I think of all those conversations i had with racist brexiteers. It’s the little things in life.
There no longer tourists… they work here and live here and contribute here… thats not tourism
Misleading headline; this is more like a digital nomad scheme that is found in many other countries: work a remote job in your home country, from the UK. It’s **great** for the economy because you’re spending money from a foreign economy in the UK.
Could we hire them to process our immigration backlog? 🤔
Not one fucking person looked at the actual rules. All jumped on the anti Tory bandwagon just like The Daily Express readers jump on the antisocialist bandwagon.
Do Your Research.
Ps. I’m very anti Tory. But we have to be smarter. Check your emotions at the door. Research to understand beyond the headline. Otherwise, you’re just a DM reader in-waiting.
