Several gunmen seen on live television armed with guns , shotguns , grenades, dynamites and other explosives have stormed a TV channel studio. Twitter is full of videos of the attack since it was on live tv

Real “Colombia in the 80s” vibes
Sorry if I sound harsh, but this made me remember Peru in 1985. My parents told me that is a nightmare living that time. And to be sincere, I am really sad for the people there, I was there 2 years ago but never expected to end like that.
They need to do a Bukele. The president needs to establish a monopoly on decisive violence. The gangs have taken this to a state of war, the rules of engagement need to be a little more flexible.
Now maybe (probably) it’s me being an American and not being totally up to speed here but it seems like the situation in Ecuador has deteriorated massively in the last few months. I always thought of it as a pretty stable place and seeing this is just wild. Can anyone ELI5 how it got this bad this quickly?
What even is this? Just random attacks to annoy a president who cracks down, or does it have to do with the escaped boss, or is it some attempt at a coup by cartel?
#NO POLICE!
##*sends the military*
This must be to do with the escaped boss.
Cartel having a proper crack at the government. Surely they will get whacked by the military?
Can’t wait to hear from the mentally ill socialist Redditors from USA giving their opinion which’ll be soft on the cartel attacks.
seems the only way to a good future for so many countries is to manufacture the illicit drugs themselves if only to eliminate the black market that is destroying people and governments
It’s hard to believe how rapidly things have gone to shit in Ecuador. When my company opened an office in Cuenca five years ago and I was there for two months it was a normal, peaceful, prosperous place. You would hear locals complain about rising crime and corruption but it felt miles away from anything serious. I literally felt safer in Cuenca and Quito than I did in Paris or Rome.
Now it’s like The Purge except it’s every day. Crazy.
Drugs ruin lives, every step of the way. Seriously, say no.
If you buy illegal drugs, you are directly supporting shit like this!
