Upon raising my concerns, the bakery owner ensured it was haccp-proof and left around the figurine to serve an anti-choking function. The figurine was delivered in this wrapped state from the supplier.
They have yet to show me this proof and a datasheet of the plastic that was used. Something tells me they had to unwrap it for it to be haccp-compliant, since the figurine is made out of ceramic. Else, why not make the entire thing out of this temperature resistant food-safe plastic and lose the plastic wrapper?
The location of this figurine suggests it was already in the pie during the baking process.
I have also asked for proof of hygiene. As I can imagine this item probably comes from some Chinese factory and thus needed some cleansing before coming into contact with food.
To further put stress on this issue, the region around this object tasted very off and had a chemical aftertaste that lasted for minutes.
To all professionals out there: I can assure you, even if everything was indeed food-safe, don’t ever leave a plastic wrapper in an edible item if you want to keep your customers.

As I doubt you’re from the FAVV-AFSCA so the baker has nothing to prove to you, and given your post and how entitled you sound (“He has yet to show me proof”, etc) I bet he’ll be happy to lose you as a customer.
Lol
