Legally, *Pfand* receipts are subject to the “default” case in the statute of limitations, i.e. they remain valid for the remainder of the year they were issued in plus an additional three full years.
You might have trouble if the print is no longer readable. And some store owners and employees might — deliberately, out of a lack of knowledge, or also in order to avoid some bookkeeping difficulties — be somewhat reluctant to accept “old but still valid” *Pfand* receipts.
