Hi friends,
Last year it happened already that I had pay almost a full rent of betriebskosten. At time I thought it was due to the war in Ukraine and how the heating cost changed. So I just paid for it.
For this year I turned off the heating, leaving only one on to reduce the costs but once again this year I will have to pay another full rent of costs.
Is this normal? Is it also happening to You somehow? I have a hard time understanding this costs🥲.
Apologies for the dumb question. I’m not from Europe so this is all very confusing to me.

You are paying 129€ Nebenkosten total per month. I know people who pay 150 € per month alone for heating for smaller flats. There is your reason. You should tell your landlord/Verwaltung that you want to increase the Abschlagszahlung for the heating/Nebenkosten.

I’m not sure how effective that is, essentially your flat is colder and that one heater will have to work a lot harder.
the nebenkostenabrechnung you received in december 2023 is for the year 2022 when heating was absurdly expensive. being prudent with your heating during 2023 will have its effect in the nebenkostenabrechnung you will reveive at the end of this year.
Your Nebenkosten are on a before crisis level. Therefore, the amount you pay upfront does not fully cover the increased costs for heating and electricity. Thus, your Nachzahlung is pretty high. To mitigate this, increase the Abschlagszahlung you pay every month.
Your Abschlagszahlung is waaaaay too low to also include heating.
I have a smaller flat and mine alone is about 100€ without heating.
