Watch: Hundreds brave icy waters for New Year’s Day dip

While many people across the UK started 2024 nursing a hangover, or catching up on some well-needed sleep after a heavy night, these braved souls tackled icy waters and freezing temperatures for a New Year’s Day dip.

These were the scenes at the Gosport New Year’s Day Dip at The Solent at Stokes Bay in Hampshire on Monday 1 January.

Hundreds took part in the event to raise vital funds for the Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue Service.

Its another day another dollar these people are so crazy swimming in this cold water we cannot stay at home with warm clothes on we still need heater to keep ourself home get a life whats so special about new year everysingle day just the same its not a must will get a big prize trophy or says in a religious book just bullshit

  10. Anyone remember that video of the sewage pipe pumping out fresh poop not so long ago?? That's just up the road from there, and I don't see one hazmat suit in sight.. Hmm nice.. Happy New year..

  15. Certainly a good number of brave souls in that cold water .. there was a similar New Year's Day swim in my home town of Whitley Bay as well as one on Boxing Day, nearby in Tynemouth. Both were very well supported.

  16. I live on the shores of Lake Superior in Canada & its minus 20-30, when Canadians do this. So watching these Brits do this in minus 2, is kind of comedic! 🤷‍♂
