  1. **TLDR:** The State has experienced one of the sharpest increases in housing rents in Europe over the past 13 years. Typical rents paid across the State rose by 100 per cent between 2010 and the third quarter of last year, according to figures published by Eurostat.

This was third highest increase recorded anywhere in Europe, eclipsed only by Estonia (+218 per cent) and Lithuania (+170 per cent). The EU average was under 25 per cent.

  2. If you look at what the single biggest issue was for FG when they took power in 2011 it was negative equity and the housing crash. Everything they have done since then is in response to that. They have fucked us.

  3. Is it not a bit disingenuous to compare to 2010- the year that headlines were dominated by ghost estates? Not exactly a meaningful baseline to compare the current market to

  4. This is outrageous. We have to give these poor landlords tax cuts before they flee the market

  5. Since the bottom of the crash

    Oh surprise surprise

    Not

  6. Crikey, look at Estonia. Rents up 217%, what in earth?!

  7. Woo another graph starting at the depths of our financial crash
