  1. Their food sucks. Way too damn many chemicals and questionable nutrition – I won’t eat there.

  2. I hear we have also sent Russia Subway’s most cherished, Jared Fogle.

  3. it’s actually a trojan horse and orks are slowly being poisoned with salmonella

  4. Man, I really liked subway. Was my go to take away once upon a time. Haven’t eaten there for a year since I realised they continue to do business in russia and fund the stealing of Ukranian children and the murder of Ukranian civilians. Probably lost out on a fair bit of money from me over that time. Appreciate to them it won’t make the slightest bit of difference but it does to me. I tell everyone I can to avoid it if they care to. Fuck subway. Its not hard to do the right thing.

  5. Genuine question: What consequence does this have? I feel that a lot of companies keep operating in russia because the consequences aren’t severe enough to hurt their profit.

  6. Subway sucks man…. Fuck Subway and their OVERPRICED pedophile sandwiches!!!!!!

    Glory to the Heros!

  7. Their food sucks and their most famous spokesman is a pedophile. Fuck Subway.

  8. Puts on subway, read another article about how their about to “Quiznos” franchises into the ground, buy up the vacant lots and sell them

  9. Support the small independent delis, much better quality.

  10. Makes sense. Their food is garbage. They feed it to garbage.

  11. Just a thought has anyone produced, or thought about making stickers and the like for these companies? Rather like that Heineken advert that looked like a real advert but had pics of bloody bullets instead of bottles. If they were widely available then if people just happened to sticker these companies, on supermarket shelves and elsewhere they could alert the wider general public that the companies and products came dripping with metaphorical blood. If enough peoples buying habbits were changed it would hit these war profiteers where it hurts.

  12. Is there somewhere we can see a list of all such companies? I heard Pepsi was another.

  13. Let’s turn them into ‘Snubway’ by not going there for their skimpy on meat subs.

  14. I got food poisoning from them at least 3 times. This is another reason to hate them.

(Boss/co-workers would get lunch from there and it was my only option at the time.)

  15. I don’t see how subway operating in russia is that big a deal. If Subway make a profit, the profit at some point leaves russia. If subway withdraws, Russians will still be buying meals, but from a russian owned company, where the profit stays in russia. So in this context, it’s harms russia more if they stay.

Its not like, say, oil and gas where foreign companies were providing external expertise required to keep certain parts of the industry going.

I can see that by withdrawing, it sends a message to Russians that the west disapproves, but I doubt losing Subway means anything significant to Russians. I suspect most would say, good riddance, it’s crap food anyway, we’ll be healthier without it.

  16. They’ve survived as an international pedophile sponsor, I think they’ll brush this new label off ok.

  17. Sounds good to me. Subway is trash food anyway. They can go out of business for all I care. I didn’t eat there yesterday, and I certainly won’t eat there tomorrow. I’d rather go hungry if these fuckers are supporting Russia (and they are if they’re operating inside the country and paying the government taxes).

  18. Shame on you Subway from Ireland.
    No more BMT’s for me.

  19. I quit eating out of that absolute dumpster when the whole pedophile spokesperson came to light, fuck that place.

  20. Certainly not defending Subway, but I will say I’m not sure if this is because of their franchise model or not. It’s likely the Subways are owned by a Russian oligarch and they can’t stop the use of the brand.

  21. Apologies for the novel, but I used to work for Subway corporate. With the way their franchising model works, pulling support for their restaurants in Russia would a little complicated but far from impossible.

Subway operates a model where 100% of all restaurants are owned by franchisees, with many franchisees owning and operating more than one. Subway corporate then provides these franchisees negotiations in real estate and construction, marketing materials, marketing campaigns, menus, supply chain, technology, etc all for an 8% return on the top line revenue of the restaurant.

So these restaurants in Russia, Subway the business doesn’t technically own them, the franchises do. BUT Subway’s lawyers are no dummies. They keep an iron grip over their restaurant operations by way of their legally binding franchise agreement. This is a long legal document that dictates how a franchisee must operate their restaurant but more relevant in this case, Subways power to revoke their licensing if they violate said agreement.

While I highly doubt that something like war is covered in those clauses, I would be very surprised if their lawyers didn’t leave some kind of open ended out clause that could be invoked if Subway wanted to.

But unfortunately, their ownership changed hands into private equity last year so as long as they’re returning a reliable profit, we won’t be hearing a word from them on something like this

  22. I’ll be actively avoiding Subway until they change that.

  23. They have Subway franchises on American military bases overseas too. That’s gonna be an awkward conversation the next time Ukrainians come to train there.

  24. They serve up shit anyway.
If they stay then fuck the lot of them.
    Повага Ukraine, Повага.

    Respect.

  25. Russians deserve Subway. A chain that defrauded people on the size of their sandwich, uses terrible ingredients while overcharging for their product. And to top it all off they had a pedo for a spokesperson. Russia can have it. I don’t know how it is even open here.
