Yay! I like snow.
Not had much of it in recent years.
Bring it on. Working from home and watching idiots trying to drive despite not having the appropriate tyres. Great times
I’ve heard it all before. I’ll believe it when I see it. (Which I won’t because it won’t happen).
Really hope not. WFH crew loving life. Construction workers need to turn up and get paid. I can’t afford to heat my house when it’s -15 and take days off work
The met office have done a [good video](https://youtu.be/b3aYDW4ytPQ) on the detail and uncertainty around potential snow next week.
Could be lots of it, could be none. But it’s all very interesting if you got 15 min to spare.
_Could_ see snow.
Just looked on Windy.com for the next 10 days and there will be ~20cm in Scotland and maybe 8cm in some parts of England with a lot of places seeing none.
Enough to cause chaos for many, no doubt, but these sensational clickbait weather headlines get on my tits.
I’m due to start a new job next week, part of the commute is a 20-30 minute rural cycle. As much as I love the snow, I think I’m going to have some issues.
The usual clickbait. Find the coldest extreme point of the forecast (usually somewhere in the Scottish mountains) and use that as the headline temperature.
Lol. Thought that was a headline from the Express or the Sun.
It must be true as the Express haven’t published their end of the world doom and gloom weather report!
…not for London though, all we get drizzle, not even a frost forecast. Another year of sitting on my sled in a puddle.
Winter 2009/10, there’s a satellite image of the UK and it’s entirely white; everything had either seen snowfall or was frozen. I’m pretty sure it’s not happened since.
I was in RAF training and slept outside on the night this was taken, in a barely depo enough shellscrape in Lincolnshire. Fun times.
Yes, found it, here; http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8447023.stm
It’s certainly going to get a lot colder towards the end of the weekend and start of next week. When the wet Atlantic fronts move back in and bump into the cold air the computer models are forecasting significant snowfall somewhere in England/Wales. Various clusterings, and no clear preference, for the snow to be either south of M4, north of M4, or between Birmingham and Manchester.
I’ve noticed that every news media in the country has started referencing WXCharts instead of the met office and every article I have read that references WXCharts has been wrong for months.
Please no. As someone who cannot work from home and is a key worker, I have no desire to trek to work in the snow, especially if the snow keeps everyone else at home. That means both less work overall but more for me, as I will be one of the few actually able to get in.
“Worst snow storm in 14 years’ to batter UK with ‘temperatures to drop to -15C”
In **Inverness**, like the dozen previous snow warnings were.
Ironically when it did snow a few days ago nobody said anything.
Let’s hope so but unfortunately it seems to be mostly forecast for the south of the country. Here in the central belt of Scotland I don’t like we’ll get much sadly.
Although the weather forecast says we’ll get a little snow Tuesday.
I’m all from the beast from the east mk2 – it was fantastic going into the office, quiet driving in and good fun on the snow and nice and quiet actually in.
But then I run winter tyres so just have to watch out for the muppets trying to get here and there without, but they tend to disappear once a day or two of snow is about as they either get stuck or scared.
So basically the same shitty prediction that get’s predicted every year for the rest of ours lives forevermore 🙄
Come summer it’ll turn to a monster heatwave prediction ANNND repeat…
Its like saying I could be a millionaire next year, or I won’t.
“We are all going to die! Everyones nan will freeze! Ice monsters will rise from the rivers! PANIC EVERYONE PANIC!”
*2cm of snow falls and then melts immediately*
Oh is it “WORST SNOWSTORM WE’VE EVER SEEN” o’clock already?
I live in Philadelphia, and it seems that you Brits have been getting a lot more snow and temperature extremes than we have. We’ve gotten one snowfall of <1 inch within the past two years. It’s almost as if Philly and London traded climates.
I’ve been hearing this bollocks every day for weeks now, with the usual variations:
“Towns facing potential BLIZZARD as up to FOOT of snow likely!”
“Icy BLAST threatens disruption across northern regions!”
“Nation BRACES for WIDESPREAD impacts from possible winter storm!”
“Whiteout conditions could CRIPPLE transportation!”
“UK set for arctic BOMB in coldest winter for 20 YEARS as cold snap arrives”
If you keep saying it every day, eventually there will be a day when it happens.
Every year we get the same stories, eventually they’ll be right.
Actual forecast is likely to be colder than average for the next 7-10 days. There’s a chance there will be snow, possibly widespread.
After living in Canada for a few years the idea of snow that won’t last months is excited to me.
This reads like some Daily Record headline.
I’m surprised they didn’t use the word “Plunge!” when talking about the temp
[Obligatory “Snowbastard” link.](https://newsthump.com/2015/01/30/weather-hyperbole-at-new-high-as-north-is-threatened-by-giant-snowbastard/)
But is it thundersnow™️? Striking terror into the hearts of octogenarian Daily Mail readers the nation over!
I was surprused to see this article is *not* the Daily Express.
2010 was bloody cold, I worked in it and it was shit but manageable, there wasn’t a lot of snow. Beast from the east was worse than that though, rather than doing any work we just shovelled any paths we could reach lol
Anyways, this is clickbait shite, be prepared for cold weather but don’t listen tho these tabloid shite hawks
News just in: actual winter weather might be seen in actual winter.
Nice. I don’t believe it will actually happen but would love to walk around in some proper snow.
Live in Newcastle, so you’re saying maybe put the big coat on?
14 day forecast for West Mids looks absolutely unremarkable for January
Why is weather reporting in the UK so overly dramatic?
I remember the snow 14 years ago. The edge of the sea froze, as did all my drain pipes.
These articles are never close to what the actual met office says…. it’s just clickbait bullshit.
“They woke up and gazed out at the morning world. And to their complete and utter amazement, it had not snowed at all. The end.”
People who are anxious and scared are naturally more compliant to authority than those who are not.
When you know this, you realise the actual reason for a lot of the news stories that are promoted through government-affiliated sources.
Literally anywhere? I’m imagining an old lady going to her pantry for a can of soup and opening up an avalanche upon herself.
The worst thing about this is that 14 years was 2010 which is like yesterday.
I remember once being in the UK and hearing someone say there could be snow accumulations of “up to one centimetre” and I laughed and laughed. Never heard “accumulation” and “one centimetre” in a sentence about snow before.
Found all the coke their other artical was on about.
Tomorrow’s headline “snowpocolypse! UK More like ALASKA! UK to receive more snow next week then over the past 200 years combined”
– next week-
Beach weather.
I knew it would be James Madden from Exacta weather before I even clicked on it. Makes it up, he does
