The ruzzians can evacuate all towns located within 9-miles of the Ukrainian border. Problem solved.
Just end the 3 day special military operation, and the raiding stops.
They struggle advancing in few key points, that buffer zone would require a very long defense line ruzzian can’t afford without losing the war in Ukraine.

An imposed military buffer zone around the entirety of Russia might be a good idea.
Russia withdrawing their troops before the country collapses is always an option.
The fact that Ukraine could hypothetically (if they didn’t want to upset the West, nor give russia a reason to use nuclear weapons) attack, move into and even occupy a pretty significant amount of russian territory practically unopposed should tell you all you need to know about how precarious this war has been for russia.
In some respects Ukraine is fighting with one hand tied behind their back.

Please explain to me why Russia—the aggressor in a revanchist war—should be entitled to a buffer zone of territory forcibly taken from its victim?
It isn’t about a buffer zone. It has *never* been about a buffer zone.
If Russia cared about a buffer zone, their primary concern right now would be their NATO border’s recent expansion by over 100%. They don’t.
It’s about conquest.
