Do the now 100 men due to be housed in these centres just not exist anymore? Where will they be housed?
I genuinely think the government’s new M.O. for these centres going forward, will be to claim its just families and children, then when the hype has died down and people aren’t arsed protesting, fill it with the lads who were originally supposed to get in. These centres almost always have contracts lasting a year or more. Once it gets set up as a centre they can do what they like and locals won’t be able to protest. Keep in mind also that as has happened elsewhere in Europe, and Ireland, “children” in the case of international protection applicants may well be lads in their early to mid 20s who just destroy documentation and claim to be 17.
So if a department spokesperson claims children are to be housed here, it’s not always the typical image you’d have of a child refugee.
There a barely any family’s among the IP applications. It’s overwhelmingly men. So where are they pulling these people from.
Funny how these people fleeing for their lives don’t include any women or children but young military aged men.
