TL;DR:
* Russia had relied on air support to attack Ukrainian advances in a southern sector of the front.
* But Kyiv recently shot down several fighter jets, putting that strategy in jeopardy.
* It all comes back to key failures Russia made at the start of the war, Western intelligence says.
Let’s be clear, as this is misleading. RUSSIA DID commit air resources at the start of the war, and they were repelled and destroyed by the Ukrainians.
They also used their air resources during the siege of Mariupol.
The article makes it seem like they did not. The author should do their research.
Those pundits who said in the first weeks of war that russia doesn’t have air superiority because tHeY hAvEn’T tRIeD yEt are still out there calling themselves defense analysts
Russia tried to have air dominance but it failed.
