[The new sequel 28 Years Later marks the third instalment to the franchise, which re-animated the zombie genre.](https://www.theguardian.com/film/2024/jan/11/28-years-later-sequel-28-days-later-danny-boyle-alex-garland)

The budget for each film (of the new trilogy!) is around $75m, a far cry from 28 Days Later’s $8m budget. Boyle will direct 28 Years Later, while Garland is on board to write all three films.

  1. Great news! A big fan back in the day so definitely looking forward to this. Always wanted to see what the third one in Paris would look like and if this continues where the last one ended I just may. Can’t wait!

  2. Would prefer to see them make a new, creative franchise instead of making more sequels but I’m sure the films will be a good night out at the cinema.

  3. Just imagine all the empty city shots they could use from COVID.. but I guess these days CGI can do similar magic too

  4. Ohh yes!! Love these movies. The music! The running zombies. Yeah yeah happy me

  5. So excited by this – like everyone I loved the first one but unlike most, I loved the second one as well.

  6. *deep breath*

The Infected in the films were *not* *zombies*, ffs. To be a zombie you need to be of a recently-deceased persuasion. *hops off soap box*

(That said, I’ll go watch it. The Infected were genuinely scary)

  7. I may be misremembering but wasn’t the second film basically made with minimal input from these two because they just didn’t want to do it?
