Hi everyone, I would be thankful if someone could help me. I quit my job in December. When I got my December payment last month I thought they didn’t include half of my 13th payment yet (we get half in June and half in December) bcs of the Kundigung or so. They had some issues with the Lohnabrechnungen and servers and I only got my Lohnabrechnung today. I checked and the 13th payment is there and they ended up taking it all away? 29.700%? Anyone has any idea why and can help me? Thank you!

  1. I just want to add, I gave Kundigung in December, gonna keep working till end of March (3month Kundigungsfrist).

  2. It looks like you got your regular salary and the 13th and then they directly subtracted your taxes, because you’re taxed at source (Qullensteuer).

  3. True, almost 30% tax on an below average salary lol- this guy just sent his whole 13th salary to quellensteuer wtf

  4. Whoever does the payroll took the wrong Tax at source percentage.

I would check with the person responsible for payroll. If they aren’t helpful, calling the Quellensteuern office of your canton might be the way to go.

  5. Wow you pay something like 40% in taxes. Better to move to Denmark then there you pay less 🫣

  6. In writing it suggests the 13th will be paid out in the next month, but I’m not sure. Maybe ask?

What the paper itself suggests is this:

    – You get paid out the monthly salary, your 13th salary (given the numbers, it seems that it’s about the 13th for 6 months) as well as the bonuses for evenings, weekends as wel as holidays

    – In the deductions, you see the usual payroll insurance ones (ALV to KTG) as well as your Quellensteuer – tax at source. As you earned more than in the previous month becuase of paying out the 13th, this will be higher. 29% Seems rather high to me tbh, and I’d maybe suggest to ask your HR to double check that.

however, it’s not completely out of the question it’s correct. As you earned more, you’ll be in a higher tax bracket for december.
