A US tourist in first class in Switzerland, nonchalantly placing her sneakers on the seats while doom scrolling on her phone…

  1. Stop taking pictures of other people in public. You’re not in a museum

  2. And why didnt you say anything instead of just taking a photo and posting.

(if you did actually take this photo) it is people who do nothing that let people like this get away with it.

Either do something about it or shut up about it. Chose one.

  3. Yeah, it’s definitely a tourist from US, cuz Swiss youngsters never do that… 🙄🤦‍♀️

  4. I catch a train to Zurich regularly and see your fellow countrymen drinking beer with their legs on top of the tiny unfolding table or doing exactly the same shit this person is. You act as tourists are so troublesome but Swiss can be as obnoxious like anyone else. Get down from your nonchalant high horse.

  5. Its a post from r/mildlyinfuriating/s/3VecL2dB9w
    I couldn‘t crosspost directly.

  6. You of course talked to them instead of just posting on reddit though right? Right???

  7. i can’t stand people like that. Ngl the blue arrow is a bit unnecessary OP but ok.

  8. Number one rule for EuroTour people: you actually cannot behave the same way like in the movie EuroTour. Sorry, not sorry, but as I lived in the US, I could tell Europeans are way more mature. But obviously not speaking generally, I mean many US citizens are mature, but unfortunately lot of them are not

  9. I would’ve definitely said something, its just disrespectful…hate this kind of behavior tbh

  10. It doesn’t matter where she’s from, but this behavior is just plain rude and disrespectful.

If you’re a guest in another country, the bare minimum you can do is show basic courtesy.

  11. Your post is biased on so many levels.

Whether he/she is an American is in fact, completely immaterial. It is however somewhat disturbing that you seem to think that highlighting that this person is, in fact, possibly a US citizen, helps contribute to the implicit point that you are trying to make.

The same thing can be said about the fact that this picture was taken in first class or in Switzerland for that matter. Would this be less shocking had this taken place in 2nd class? Or in Germany? Equally so, how do we ascertain that this person is a tourist in the first place?

Similarly, you seem to turn a blind eye to the fact that she is wearing brown leggings.

I certainly do not condone this person’s demeanor however I find the nature and title of your post inappropriate as well.

A less opinionated and arguably less racist and more suitable post title could be simplified to:

    >*A train* ***passenger*** *nonchalantly placing her sneakers on the seats while doom scrolling on her phone…*

For that reason I must say that I am equally shocked by the title and nature of your post. The fact that you are snapping pictures of passengers surreptitiously is also an eyebrow-raising practice in itself.

If your intention is to contribute to the greater good by educating fellow passengers, simply ask them to take their shoes off seats. If you do not have the courage to address them directly, just ask one of the conductors. As for sharing your experience with the rest of us on Reddit, I must disappoint you: These are daily occurrences that most of us will have encountered on every other train ride.
