Welp, guess that settles it, they likely were just looking for pretext to a full-on invasion of Ukraine. Not too long ago I’d say Putin wouldn’t risk all-out war, because of how horribly he’d inevitably lose, but he seems to have stopped caring, from my decidedly amateur analysis. Has his position really deteriorated that much that he needs this war for domestic-political purposes?
We will see the USA coming back to talks soon when Russia implements the military technical measures they said they will do.
He got his faked talks and when he has to sell his people thousands of dead soldiers, a ruined economy and being the paria of the world, he can tell its the wests fault for not giving what he wanted in his delusions.

That’s good news and bad news. Good, because it Americans don’t want to trade security of Eastern Europe for potential Russian support against China . It’s bad because would have been better to buy more time for Ukraine.
