For fun I’m writing a movie about an American family (mom, dad, 2 adult daughters in their 20’s still living at home) who take a vacation to either France or Germany. This will be dark comedy & one of the daughters has a comedic accident & ends up breaking her nose.

1. Is this get up like the pic I posted common for a broken nose in Germany? Through my google research google images shows me this is common pretty much everywhere but the US for a broken nose or nose job. It appears to be plaster held in place by surgical tape. Have you ever seen someone walking around Germany looking like this?

2. Anyone have 1st hand broken nose experience in Germany or known anyone who has had a broken nose? Would they fix/realign a broken nose in the ER?

3. If something like this really happened to an American on vacation in Germany would they treat her? Bill her US insurance? Would travel insurance pay? Would they demand payment before or after treating her?

Thank you in advance for any questions you can help answer! If you know of any German tv shows or movies where a girl has to wear something on her nose like in the pic please let me know. I’d like to see it for inspiration & for general comedy. 😂

  1. Thank you for asking the important questions. If there’s one thing that ruins my enjoyment of a film, it’s geographically inaccurate bandaging and wound care.

  2. >Have you ever seen someone walking around Germany looking like this?

Finding it hard to answer this seriously.

Depends if it’s East or west- East probably get fingered by an AFD judge and then get remigrated.

  3. Based on my observation, the “tape” is more wider in the USA, and narrower in the Germany. Also the the angle is slightly different. In US it would like an inverted V as shown in the picture. But in Germany it looks more like Jean-Claude Van Damme performing split. German doctors also use gauge that has a bone white tinge
