>”€25 million can be redistributed because the state does not redistribute it. I have this money because it is not taxed. I have this money because the government has failed to fulfill its mandate to ensure that wealth is distributed in society in such a way that it doesn’t end up unequally in my hands just because I’m in this world, in this particular family, with this surname,” Marlene Engelhorn said during a press conference Wednesday.
Well, that’s very nice of her. It looks like the aim is more to try and create momentum for fairer wealth distribution not this money as a one-off, end in and of itself. It’s admirable and I can’t pretend that I would do the same.
Such a romantic person. She won’t be happy in this life.
A noble gesture!
She is german and given that she is still studying German literature at the age of 30 appears to have lots of money in reserve.
not all heroes wear capes
What an awesome gesture. Hope she prioritizes the homeless people and those in real need of basic needs like food first. Hope more millionaires follow suit!

And every austrian shall receive 2.77€ hopefully they’re happy
Dear Austrian friends, where can i get the citizenship?
Respect!
Only thing the article omits, is how much 25mil is compared to her total inherited estate
Hey children are going to be so… miffed
A distant great uncle of mine was a wonderfully wealthy businessman in London in the 1800s.
In his will he left his entire fortune to the treasury office to help pay off the UK’s national debt.
Now spend that money “bribing”, I mean, lobbying politicians to actually implement those ideas. Probably much better use of that money
I’ll gladly take half of it and ease ur burden ! Thanku 🙂
It’s an amazing gesture, but 25mil is not so much when compared to what Bezos or other greedy bastards could do for their less fortunate countrymen. Cheers, anyway.
If i was her i would keep enough money to live modest life until i die and use rest to start/buy companies and then give working people there most of what company makes in hope that it would force others to stop exploiting ordinary working people.
Honestly, I would rather see her invest the money into a project like building infrastructure or a company that pays a fair wage. Social program seem like patchwork.

Truly uplifting news.

is funny how some kids of the wealthiest parents become socialists.
According to an interview with Tilo Jung, she keeps several million. She hates all employers because they exploit employees. This woman has never worked and will never work, but acts like a fighter for the little people.
Anyone who celebrates her should watch a few videos of her and realize how terribly self-involved her behavior is.
Austria has 9 million people. This means each Austrian will be able to buy ONE Milka chocolate bar, and then the whole fortune is just wasted?
