This was a terrible idea from the outset, and it also demonstrates that even if it were possible, it will be tied up in the courts for decades.
The best thing Sunak can do now to push this over the line is to say “yes, Rwanda has human rights issues. But so does the UK. We’ve banned disruptive protests. We’ve made it more difficult for certain demographics to vote. Given another 5 years, we will make Rwanda safer than the UK”
The sad thing is, a large number of people would vote for this.
No shit Sherlock. The Tories only just acknowledge that? Christ o’mighty.
In much the same way Hitler had issues with race relations.
My word, really? Next they’ll be conceding that Josef Fritzl’s house renovations weren’t entirely on the level.
No shit, I mean “Genocide” is probably the term most associated with the place.
Did you know Rwanda was welcomed into the Commonwealth recently? It is not a former part of the Empire. I’m sure there’s no huge scandal here, but funny how they joined the Commonwealth and then this happened.

Just turn the boats around.
Stop wasting so much taxpayer money on planes to fucking rwanda. Get the coast guard, find the boats, turn them around or force them.
I think australia does that
I too enjoy it when the country decides to blow up some middle eastern places, and then bemoans the refugees.
Can’t someone else take responsibility for our actions? Maybe France?
Just to make the point, the concerns about human rights in Rwanda are more to do with [recent events like this](https://www.amnesty.org/en/latest/news/2019/02/rwanda-police-officers-remain-free-while-protesting-congolese-refugees-face-jail-time/) and less to do with the genocide before anyone starts coming out with the “but it was decades ago!” lines…
