Historical Edinburgh: 1647 Map – Need Help Confirming Location of Old Tolbooth Prison and Location of Witch Burnings

1. I am 99% sure that the Old Tolbooth prison is located in the centre of the map next to the cathedral (ii) but I would just like to clarify.

   I know that most witches were burnt on Castle Hill, but is that what that T-looking symbol designates?

   Apologies for not being very good at landmarks and maps.

3. Old tollbooth is marked in brass on the high street by st Giles

4. Yes it’s ii was the old Tollbooth. If you read Kate Fosters wonderful novel The Maiden it has a great description of it and its location.
