  1. Absolute fucking scumbag. Does he get his lines direct from Iran?

  2. I’ve never seen him being outraged over the brutal killings of hundreds of Nigerian Christians last month, or the brutal machete massacres in Ethiopia, or the terrible violence in Sudan.

Selective outrage to advance a worldview.

  3. Hoho. Going for the jugular.

The answer, sadly, at least when it comes to Israel and Palestinian children, is yes.

  4. “cargo” And the fact that there are PEOPLE at risk? What about the fact that the Hussites are TERRORISTS who are making ordinary people’s nightmares? Is he stupid?

  5. Sometimes you get the impression Yousaf finds it a chore to talk about Scottish domestic issues – you know, the ones he had responsibility for – when he’d much rather focus entirely on his pet causes and international affairs.

It would be nice if he had the same passion for improving the lives of the Scottish people as he does about wars in far away places.

  6. 2 separate events going on here- yes, Israel is currently doing whatever it feels like doing in Gaza to the horrendous detriment on human rights there.

But what the Houthis are doing is nothing more than international piracy, and anyone opposing the strikes on pirates threatening free trade needs to have a word with themselves. Israel are not the good guys but that doesn’t make the Houthis the good guys either.

  7. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to want our representatives to get a vote on our decision to launch a military intervention in the middle east, rather than the Government acting unilaterally.

  8. Bloke just loves to go against the UK at any time he can. I have as many problems with stuff that goes on as much as the next person but this just isnt 1 of them. Humza just yapping his gums as normal

  9. Terrorists targeting international shipping and trade does have a more direct impact on the UK than the Israel/Gaza conflict. But sure, he’s scored some virtue points.

  10. If Humza had the same passion and interest for Middle Eastern affairs and individuals as he did for Scotland, he might actually win the next election.

  11. Humzas only policies:

    1.) Free Palestine.

    2.) Disagree with Westminster

    That’s it

  12. This is the sort of moronic take I’d expect from a teenager involved in student politics, not the First Minister.

I voted SNP at the last general election. Behaviour like this is making me lean towards voting for another party this time around.

  13. It’s easy to make sound bites. Cargo being forced round the horn of Africa will massively increase inflation again, forcing yet more people into poverty. I’m no fan of the Tories or Westminster, but protecting international shipping lanes is absolutely the right thing to do.

  14. You can’t complain about cost of living and inflation and criticise the government for trying to do something about it.

End of the day if we do nothing our prices will go up significantly.

  15. He’d be absolutely buzzing if we started bombing Israel couldn’t give two shits about there children

  16. Yes, the Uk should send jets to bomb Israel 🤦‍♂️

  17. Houthi terrorists attacking ships seems a lot less complex than the UK solving the Israel-Palestine conflict.

  18. I wish the Scottish government cared as much about Scotland as they did about Middle Eastern affairs.

  19. Semi-serious question: Is Humza Yousaf a double agent trying to dismantle the SNP or am I getting the wrong impression from checking this sub from time to time.

  20. 100%, the houthis have promised retaliation and I think after the debacle that was Afghanistan being dragged into another forever war isn’t what we should be doing without the pretense of debate.

Like a vote would pass anyway, as I can’t see lab voting against, but process is important imo.

But yeah if the Saudis unsuccessfuly attempted this with brittish tech for years AND half the coalition pulled out already I can’t see this being the solution.

  21. I think it probably also has something to do with the cargo and more with the attempted murder of all the civilian sailors on-board the ships that the Houthis have targeted.

Not to mention the fact that they have targeted British warships as well.

  22. It’s wild that your prime Minister does not want to defend the interest of your ships in the Red Sea. They are attacking ships from the United Kingdom.

What a dangerous clown he is

  23. I wished Yousaf cared as much for Scotland as he does for events in the Middle East – we’ve a housing crisis and a homelessness crisis we’re in the midst of and all he is interested in is berating UK Gov for their stance on not intervening in events in Palestine. Him and the SNP have just cut their social house building target for budget reasons yet only a few weeks ago he wanted to bring in as many people from Palestine to Scotland as possible – well which is it Yousaf? Are we in a housing crisis? And if so, where would all those people be housed? Secondly – with the SNP reducing the numbers of social housing being built; is increasing the amount of people needing social housing by offering asylum whilst reducing the number of social homes being built a good idea? It’s obvious to me it isn’t. I think the man is a clown with a single agenda.

At this point; he needs to stand down as FM because he clearly isn’t focused on Scotland and let someone competent take charge.

  24. Some sadly predictable comments in here… this sub has really gone to the dogs over the past year or so

  25. He is correct. why did US and UK government attack an airport with the risk of killing innocent civilians ?

  26. Really insightful comment! Maybe we could make a governmental department that deals with this stuff while the rest of government tackles domestic affairs? We could call it the Foreign Office or something like that

  27. Caring about the children in the exact same way he hesitated to ban XL bully dogs.

  28. Wait… Bombing Yemeni territority from international waters is controversial to some people? Why?
