  1. >N-VA thinks it is a bad idea for Belgium to also request an investigation from the International Court of Justice in The Hague into the risk of genocide by Israel in the Gaza Strip. N-VA faction leader in the House Peter De Roover advocates a much more cautious approach. “To reach a solution there, you have to take Israel all the way with you.” Member of Parliament Egbert Lachaert (Open VLD) also guards against statements that could appear “counterproductive”.

    >And Vooruit, among others, Groen, CD&V indicated earlier this week that they want our country to request an investigation into the risk of genocide in Gaza from the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague. South Africa already did this in December, the arguments before the court in The Hague start today. Peter Mertens (PVDA) believes that not only Belgium, but all members of the United Nations should take their responsibility and support South Africa’s complaint.

    >**”Is there anything to be gained from putting Israel in the pillory now?” De Roover wonders. “I do not think so.”**

    N-VA, as cynical as usual…

  2. It certainly can’t have anything to do with their party leader being mayor of a city with one of the largest Jewish communities in Europe.

  3. I don’t think the International Court of Justice will have any impact on what Israel is doing.
The United Nations and the International Court of Justice have condemned and sanctioned Israel before, even with the USA often vetoing these things.
Israel simply doesn’t recognize their authority…

  4. Nice whataboutism about the Uygurs lol, guess N-VA can care about muslim lives in the right context.
