  1. Attempted murder at Rogier metro station: a person was pushed onto the tracks

A young man deliberately pushed a woman onto the metro tracks Friday at around 7:45 p.m. in the Rogier station in Brussels, according to information received in the evening by the Belga news agency.

STIB spokeswoman An Van Hamme confirms that a person was found on the tracks, but that she could be brought up on the platform quickly. The Brussels prosecutor’s office is not yet able to communicate on this case. “The driver braked when he saw the person on the tracks and stopped in time,” explained An Van hamme. “The driver reacted very well, but he is still in shock and so is the victim.” The victim didn’t get injured, but this remains to be confirmed.

According to information provided to Belga, a young man pushed the woman in the back while a metro was approaching. He then ran away. The metro driver applied the emergency brake and did not hit the victim. Passengers then went down to the tracks to pull her up onto the platform. Metro traffic was interrupted between Elisabeth and Arts-Lois stations until 8:15 pm.

  2. From another article:

    >The suspect – a young man – was immediately slapped in the metro station by an indignant witness, but managed to escape. He was eventually arrested a little later in the neighborhood near the De Brouckère Square.

  3. Wouldn’t be surprised it’s because she told him he should wear a mask.

There is no excuse for this, but ..
This was bound to happen with all covid crap the media, government and experts keep throwing at us.

  4. Dear lord. I was there yesterday just half an hour earlier. Would’ve caught that little scumbag.

  5. This the exact reason why I asked my gf to stay back at the wall until the train arrives. She lived in London at that time and used the tube everyday. This could happen anywhere, any time. Sick people live among us. It’s fucked up!

  6. Barriers could have prevented it, take a look at the Dubai metro, Singapore metro. The barriers keep passengers safe, prevent trash and other items be dropped into the tracks. Allow metro to keep a bit more speed when entering the station (they slow down otherwise for wind displacement)

It’s not because it happens only a few times every few years, it’s about security. And preventing the loss of life.
