Hi all! My husband and I are moving to Oslo and starting new jobs in April, and we are struggling a bit with logistics.
We are trying to rent an apartment, but have not been able to post an ad on Finn.no because neither of us has a BankID yet. I have a D-number, but apparently I am unable to open a bank account unless I have a Norwegian address. At the same time, it seems I can’t get a Norwegian address without opening a bank account. I’m stuck in a vicious cycle, and could really use a little help here please. Would renting a temporary accommodation for 1 month be ok for the bank? (Emailed them, no reply yet..)
On another note, we just came back from Oslo this week, and we absolutely fell in love with the energy of the city; thanks to this group, we dressed appropriately for -16C, so a big thank you to you all for sharing advice.

Unless something has changed, you should be able to post an ad on Finn.no. I did this a year and a half ago.
You will have your find someone willing to rent/sign a contract without a deposit until you get BankID sorted out. DO NOT give a landlord a deposit into their private account.
Getting over here is a logistical nightmare. It will take months before you have everything in place.
