  6. 2.5 million subscribers on youtube, born in Wexford, moved to the states to make it big and the comments here are calling him a bellend and hoping he’s not Irish because his accent has changed after a fucking decade. Is there a worse country on earth for shit talking our own successful people who don’t happen to line up exactly with what we approve of?

  12. lol … I have aunts and uncles in their 70’s who moved to USA in their teens, and they still have their authentic west of Ireland brogue. I also have friends and in-laws who moved there 20 odd years ago, again – accent maintained.

    Whatever your thoughts on the accent, it’s absolutely *not* an inevitability that you’ll start talking like a valley girl after spending a few years there … That’s a choice.

  14. I had direct dealings with RTE’s entertainment department in the past (the same guys are still running it) and this story doesn’t surprise me one bit.
