This is on a Friday evening around 8pm at Farringdon. At this time each branch of the Elizabeth line is scheduled to depart around every 7ish minutes or so, yet the last two evenings I’ve had to wait 16 minutes for my branch to arrive. Even worse is that the TfL app doesn’t report the Elizabeth line as having disruption, but rather “good service”. I commute everyday on this line and especially recently it feels as if nearly every day there’s some form of disruption.

Before moving to my new place I’d commute on the Northern Line, and for all of its other problems I never had any issues with its consistency, and that’s one of the ancient deep tube lines.

I generally love the Elizabeth line with its nice trains and new stations, but the poor level of service is immensely disappointing. It’s been nearly two years since it’s opened and the fact that it’s still facing so many issues regularly is something that I don’t understand.

  1. I miss living in London, for it to be a bad thing to wait 15 minutes for public transport is a dream haha

  2. It’s just normal off peak train intervals……so easy to get used to a train every 3 mins when u travel during peak lol

  3. In my short time living in London and using the Tube a lot, the Elizabeth line currently has the most problems. Probably because it’s new and they’re still working out the issues.

  4. Despite the amazing links on paper, the Elizabeth line is just too broken for me to trust anymore. The horror stories I’ve seen from when it breaks just aren’t worth the quicker time it takes to travel on it. Sticking to the tube for the foreseeable future as a result

  5. Integration of mainline and crossrail signaling is one of the current issues I read. It will be getting there though.

  6. Unfortunately this one was a bit of bad luck. Every Abbey Wood train around that time was on time, except for the one you were trying to get, which was about seven minutes late. Yeah it’s annoying when there’s uneven service intervals, but at least this one is a one off, and it’s not really sufficient to change the overall line status for.

It’s a good argument though for a more frequent service to run to Abbey Wood, so that it doesn’t lead to big gaps in the service intervals if a single train is delayed.

  7. I use the Liz line on a very regular basis and apart from one occasion the service is exemplary.

  8. You had to wait 15 minutes? What a privileged fool you are.

  9. I’ve never known so many people moan so much about something that is perfectly fine 90% of the time.

  10. Non-South Londoners when they have to wait more than eight whole minutes for a brand-new, air-conditioned train.

  11. TfL service information needs a complete revamp – it’s horrendously inaccurate and useless at giving any useful information

  12. Lizzy line has different signalling to the traditional TFL tube lines, brand new system by Siemens, and they still haven’t worked it out yet, and needs special Siemens assistance, it’s basically a pile of dogshit.

  13. Don’t get the train regularly but I do listen to a lot of LBC driving in and it does seem that every travel announcement has some some delay or disruption
    on the Elizabeth line
