  1. That woman clearly has a fear of escalators and has taken the necessary steps to avoid them.

  2. Yes, they’re for people who can walk on flat ground but are unable to walk up stairs.

  3. I have long believed that, having visited the famous Bude Tunnel, there was little else worth seeing within the UK… I must now admit that I was clearly wrong… on the upside, summer vacation plans are now falling into place…

  4. I’m sure either Debenhams or BHS on Princess Street in Edinburgh used to have a set like these. Before they both closed down.

  5. Imagine if these broke midway up you could really hurt your knee. Horrible horrible thought

  6. Marks and Spencer’s in Eldon Square has some short escalators too.

  7. What was QD and then Wilko in Norwich had a similar set. There was also a lift about ten metres away, so I really know why they felt these were necessary!

  8. Niiice, a fine example of an Orenstein & Koppel shortened escalator, this is like an IWC or Stowa watch, fine German engineering with a very interesting history especially during WW2

  9. Entrance to Victoria Place in London from Eccleston Bridge

  10. Reminds me of the old TJ Hughes that was in Sheffield.

  11. The Wilko in Bridgend used to have one just like this too, but only one not a pair

  12. New look in brum? Granted I’ve not been there in years, and only used to go because my mum used to drag us there when we were kids.

  13. Reminds me of the elevators at victoria station back entrence.
