They were politely warned on more than one occasion, the sternly warned on more than one occasion, and the finally told to cut the shit. They, and Iran, own the results. International shipping passing by Yemen, in shipping lanes, should not be subject to attack or piracy. They were told.
Let’s make some points clear:
– The Houtis were attacking ships essential for western economy.
– Iran backs said Houtis (the same Iran which is giving weapon to Russia and keeps abusing women’s rights and hanging civilians).
– The Houti official slogan is death to the US and Israel (aka not the most mentally stable people to deal with).
It’s just a case of “fuck around and find out”, nothing more.

The strike isn’t going to deter the Houthi’s. You can’t negotiate with middle East hillbillies who don’t care if they die. They will never learn from any amount of pain or destruction brought their way. At that point it is hard to have any empathy for a culture who doesn’t even care about their life or the lives of their populace. This Middle East back and forth has been going on for so long I resigned to just not caring anymore. It doesn’t feel right to feel like that…
On the other hand ask and you shall receive. Who are we to not give them exactly what they want? If the Houthi’s want attention they will get it. If the Middle East thinks that NATO or the US can’t chew gum and walk at the same time – they are mistaken.
