How Jordan Henderson’s £350,000-a-week Saudi dream turned into a nightmare: His family struggled to settle despite living in Bahrain, playing in front of as few as 696 fans… and abandoning his promise to ‘grow the game’ after just six months

  1. He’s obviously sorted all the LGBT issue there and is now coming home a hero….

  2. bahahahahahahahahaabhahahaahahahaha
    …..
    hahahahahahahahahabahahhaha bum league.
    bum player.

  3. Let’s not act like playing in front of small crowds affected him. It was a money move, he didn’t care if there was a million people in the crowd or 1, as long as the money hit his bank account that’s all that mattered

  4. 4 assists… He sold his ethics and couldn’t even put a performance for the club that paying him millions.

  5. Please don’t let him anywhere near the England squad.

  6. His wages will be left for him in an envelope in the Saudi Embassy in Istanbul, all he has to do is go there and collect it…. 😑

  7. I’m genuinely disgusted by how many people I’ve seen say ‘oh well he’s learnt a lesson – he’s a good player – you’d have done the same in his position’

He’s a complete grifter and I hope he never gets close to the national team again

  8. Just gonna tune the worlds smallest violin for him.

  9. Stole a career and then robbed the Arabs pockets. Average player

  10. He moved to the fucking Flintstones set. What did he expect?

    He’s done in England.

  11. For those wondering, he deferred payment to avoid taxes in the UK. So, he’ll receive nothing for playing for the six months.

  12. Wish bellends would just admit they’re bellends. I guess they hide that truth from themselves.

  13. So glad he’s done expanding the game in Saudi Arabia! I’m sure LGBTQ+ are now accepted there as well!

  14. If the family aren’t happy no amount of money will suffice.

  15. I think the best thing to do is just never talk about Hendo again.

That is the best ‘punishment’, result or scenario here.

Let’s talk about footballers that matter, if any.

  16. To be the first Liverpool captain to win the league in 30 years and then take a huge steaming shit on your legacy for a 6 month stroll in Arabia. That can’t feel good.

  17. He destroyed his reputation. Held in such high regard by the whole of Liverpool and completely flipped things upside down with his move. Could have gone down as a club legend but really hurt his legacy with this stupid move.

If he was just honest and said he went for the money then fine. Still not great optics but better than saying it was to “grow the game” and not about the money.

Was the extra few million quid to add to his already stacked wealth really worth it?

  18. Hard to watch. Yes he’s done himself in. But man I idolized this guy, the only kit I’ve bought in years was a Hendo one. I suspect he will do an apology at some point, and that will begin his journey to some sort of redemption.

  19. People saying this has ruined his reputation honestly have no understanding of the average football fan.

Honestly they couldn’t give a fuck, look at what was happening when Newcastle got taken over – you had geordies waving fucking Saudi Arabia flags wearing headscarves

  20. I’ve had to shut down my touring mouse orchestra due to Brexit so I have a shitload of tiny violins going spare right now.
