1. Really unlucky. Atletico had a full week rest, we hit the bar twice and got a goal cancelled for a millimeter offside and both of Atletico’s first two goals were complete ping pong (our first goal too tbf). Clear second yellow for De Paul for stomping on Carvajal literally 20 seconds before Griezmann puts them in front. I know it looks bad and we made many mistake but this was literally just bad luck. It’s 4-2 for us on another day

2. Props to Atleti for fighting this one out.
   Also props to Tchouameni who came on like he played 120 minutes beforehand, one of the worst bench cameos which I can remember. Absolutely lazy, Griezmann who ran his ass off the entire game toyed with him like nothing. Shameful game overall, few exceptions in Jude, Mendy.

3. Some people here are so fucking reactionary, it’s insane. The team literally just played 210 minutes in the Supercup all the way in Saudi Arabia, and was thrown into another high intensity game right off the bat. The players were visibly tired, and that’s normal considering this schedule. Plus, the team played well for large stretches of the game and was unlucky with 2 crossbars and several Oblak saves.

   The thing that worries me the most is the fact that our only reliable CB is Rudiger, Tchouameni was really bad today as a CB and not getting another defender in this window will probably cost us the season. Vini’s inconsistency is also concerning, seems that he just becomes invisible anytime the opponent manages to take him out of the game. Let’s hope for the best, Hala Madrid!

4. Carlo has never performed consistently vs Atletico. He’s got 1 more win than loss vs them.

10. both teams were sloppy. it was understandable on our side because we actually played a final on sunday unlike some bums, patetico just got lucky as is and also with some mistakes from our players.

11. Defense let us down massively today. Cama was asleep the whole game, tchou at CB(and overall was forgettable), and—I know this sub has a hard-on for Lunin, but today exposed his inexperience.

13. It’s poor to lose in the Copa with so many tired first team players playing. There really should have been more rotation and if we needed we could have brought big players on from the bench at least.

    Don’t care too much about the competition (especially as we just won one of the ‘lesser’ trophies in the Super Copa) but running the players into the ground just to lose anyways is stupid. Players who didn’t start in Saudi should have had a chance here. It’s the Copa del Rey, not the CL semi finals.

14. Brother, Vinicius and Bellingham are TIRED. Tchouameni fumbling a ball in his own half by passing it towards the sideline, and then subsequently doing fuck all when Vini lost the ball and tried to chase Griezmann on a yellow and with 100 minutes of football in his leg is shameful. He ran towards the central defenders for what? For who? I don’t know what people see in this guy.

    This game was always going to favor Atleti. Full week of rest because of the supercopa elimination & they play at home. The ET was nothing like the 5-3 – our players looked gassed and made silly mistakes. Not subbing out one of Vinicius or Bellingham cost us, they were supposed to be our attack in the ET but they were finished. Vinicius was abysmal on top of that.

    How many goals are we going to concede vs Atleti? 10 in 3 games? What is going wrong here Carlo???

15. We were totally gassed out at the Extra Time, even some of the subs, the schedule is getting to us, hopefully we can bounce back in the coming matches and don’t allow this to affect our minds

16. You can’t win these games if you let your worst players remain on the field, and take out the better playing ones.

    Silver lining, maybe Vini won the debating match he was playing instead though? With their players, their coach, and their crowd. Seemed like that was more important to him anyway.

17. I love Vinicius but at the same time I am sick and tired watching him get worked up and lose his mind because the opponents, crowd or whatever else is annoying or provoking him.

    Something has to change, since the opponent players and fans for sure won’t change, he has to.

    He is such an amazing player but in a game like this where he is annoyed beyond himself he is the worst player on the field.

18. I don’t think it’s fair to blame our players for this. They played 3 big games in a week plus traveling. Simple mistakes cost us a lot. Plus, two balls in the bar.

19. The players were visibly very tired. Most goals were individual errors. The 3rd goals was big laziness from Vini and Tchoumeni and Nacho.

    Rudi and Lunin with stupid blunders, Vini and Rodry missed clear chances they affected the score line directly but it’s not just about them.

    The midfield had no energy, maybe it’s because they’ve played 330 minutes in 8 days while traveling to another continent but at the end of the day we played without intensity

    No one ran with Griezmann on the 3rd goal to try and stop him besides Vini, that’s unacceptable

    We won the CdR last year and just won the Supercopa beating Atletico and Barca so it doesn’t bother me as much as past years but conceding 10 goals in 3 games against Atletico is pathetic. Most of it falls onto the players, 7-8 of the goals were blunder from us

    Anyway we move we have to beat Almeria and get back on top of the league, don’t be dormers it’s literally our 2nd loss of the season

23. Awful match, too many individual mistakes that costed us three goals, players subbed in playing like shit, jogging, not even trying. We could have won this one.

    Hopefully they’ll play better on Sunday, we have La Liga to win.

24. Can’t win them all. It was a very entertaining game and I think the first two halfs we were better slightly than them. But those were some real lucky goals they got on us. After that at extra time the team was gassed and understandably so.. their third goal should not have happen though, incredibly lazy defending by tchoumini.

27. Our defense today was really shit. Tchouameni casually jogging to the middle of the goal instead of cutting off Griezmann.

    This might also be Vinicius’ worst game I’ve ever seen. Dude can’t help but get emotional in every heated game.

    Also, jesus this ref. Outrageous calls for half the game and was afraid to whistle and give yellows.

    Lastly, fuck Atletico.

28. Real Madrid want to win a game that they shouldn’t have won, that’s why they lost, Valverde, Luka Modric, Rodrigo they were too tired. Even bringing on some people who should have been rested will make it very difficult for the team to play the next game against Almeria.

31. There were a lot of slack passes late on, and not just keeping Mendy on was a mistake. I know we were trying to re-integrate Cama, but he was up and down and Mendy has been good lately. It was a lot of mental errors AS WELL as bad luck and poor refereeing.

32. Atletico were very lucky today and we weren’t. And that’s it. We didn’t play bad necessarily but the ball did not want to go in the net on our chances and there were quite a few errors on both sides. They definitely weren’t the better side and I wouldn’t consider this a bad game from us, just more unlucky.

    Our player was mentally and physically gassed, it’s all there to see, and tchouameni had bad games coming from the bench and just ball watching during third goal.

    I’d be embarrassed to support a win like this. The 3rd goal for atleti shouldn’t even happen if De Paul had gotten a proper 2nd yellow.

    The match was going as expected until they gave Griezmann all the time in the world to comfortably shoot.

    Vini and Brahim were terrible today, would’ve preferred to have Rodrygo on the pitch over either of them in the last stretches of the match – Tchouameni was completely apathetic after getting subbed on, unacceptable

44. Really disappointing, and I can’t understand how even in the previous game it looked so unpredictable with the kind of individual mistakes made.

    And Vini jr. needs to be taken off if he’s not playing well, he’s not a gamechanger and gets riled it too fast and then plays even worse. At the same time, for the club our size we shouldn’t have trouble having enough good players during extra time when so much is expected from them to help win a game.
