Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh Celebrates Her 59th Birthday

The Duchess of Edinburgh is celebrating her 59th birthday today!

Sophie married Prince Edward in 1999 and soon became a full-time working member of the Royal Family.

Following their union, the pair received the titles Earl and Countess of Wessex.

Edward and Sophie became Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh in 2023, the same year that her brother-in-law became King.

Sophie is a much loved member of the Royal Family and both the Duchess and her husband have dedicated their lives to charitable work.

The mother-of-two is particularly passionate about gender equality, eliminating avoidable blindness and supporting people with disabilities.

The Royal Family sent her birthday wishes on social media to mark the special day.
