Clubs across Europe in tremble
Lot of this is because Covid fall out iirc
Not to kick a man when he’s down, but the repercussions of this I think are gonna hit chelsea the worst, as they were expecting to be able to sell to meet FFP the next few years. Now everyone’s afraid of buying and I expect prices will come down a bit.
This is actually bad news for clubs on both sides of the channel. Clubs that need to sell to balance the books in the PL especially won’t have much of a market to sell too, thus unable to receive the types of fees they otherwise would. Also many European clubs whose business models rely on selling their players for huge profits abroad will also take a hit. A lot of people mistakenly believe that lower PL spending would actually help the other European leagues when that couldn’t be further from the truth.
Someone check on Sky Sports, what world is there for them without transfer sagas.
I’m hearing reports of massive sympathy from the rest of European football now that clubs like Bournemouth can’t outspend AC Milan any more
Good to see a non-dramatic headline…
Man City be like, hold my beer
I for one welcome this change, it’s going to be great. This of course has nothing to do with spurs having 650million of wiggle room with ffp.
I give it about 2 seasons of this, Klopp is leaving, Pep will leave before too long. If Madrid or Bayern start dominating the champions league again and non European clubs can’t compete for players then I think the clubs might say
“ok we don’t like this, we all want to be able to spend what we have”. What an independent adjudicator will make of it I don’t know.
