Trent Alexander-Arnold: “Looking back on this era, although Manchester City have won more titles than Liverpool and have probably been more successful, our trophies will mean more to us and our fanbase because of the situations at both clubs financially.”

  1. I’d argue that west ham is actually the most successful club in england, because our conference league trophy means more to us than citys recent treble does to them

  2. He’s right, but what do we have to gain from saying this just before we play them? It’s just going to piss them off and make them more up for it sunday. It’s like salah before the champions league final. It’s unprofessional imo

  3. I see the UK culture of taking pride in saving billionaires money has seeped it’s way down to the pitch.

  4. I know city … but still.. you can’t measure what something means to someone. Whatever.

  5. Going on as if Klopp hasn’t had a penny to spend. He’s spent over 500 million. Fuck off.

  6. He’s 100% correct.

Any club that wins a trophy while competing against a team nationalised by the UAE Gov should be very proud of themselves. They’ve won everything their is to win, and they’ve done it against a team with 115 charges of cheating.

Liverpool, Chelsea, Leicester, Man United, Arsenal, all should be very proud for winning silverware against these cheats. And clubs like Spurs who lost in League Cup Finals should also feel robbed, and hopefully once the case is done they’re given their trophy (and the near 15 year long Banter can end for a bit)

  7. I don’t get why liverpool act like they haven’t spent money. they’ve made several big buys over the last year and were lucky to get salah from an absoloute bargin

  8. Should Blackburn’s trophy not count as Jack Walker outspent everyone?

What about Utd in the 90s, not even withstanding they got majorly lucky with the golden youth generation?

Chelsea under from 04-06 especially ?

Only trophies without outside money coming in count now?

    What a joke football is…

  9. Yeah he’s not wrong

That’s why almost everyone agrees that Leicester’s premier league is probably the best one of all time

  10. It’s true i mean does anyone outside Man City care about the trophies they have basically bought?

  11. i LOVE Liverpool but trent this is some “I win because Power of Frendship” shit. stop! Liverpool are very very good team . thats it. no need to downplay it by measuring it in trophies

  12. Klopp wins one more PL title and people will say he had the better career in the PL than Pep imo. Got a bunch of nobodies and made them world class players.

  13. Just look at all City’s trophy parades compared to Liverpools. Our singular PL and CL parades were considerably better attended than their treble parade. Some goes when comparing City’s parades to others down the years.

  14. One is a football club that plays by the rules and one is a nation state vehicle for sportwashing by the UAE.
One is under investigation for 115 breaches of rule breaches and threatened to sue the league over changes to fair value assesment over sponsors 😂Pretty obvious what he means

  15. As a city fan I don’t give a shit about Liverpools trophies during this era so I can see where Trent is coming from.

  16. I honestly feel a little sorry for Liverpool, Klopp should be leaving with at least 3 Premier Leagues titles. They finished second with +90 points TWICE. All without an Arab sugar daddy & not breaking 115 rules. Nobody knows what players they were looking at and decided not to get so they would stay within FFP guidelines. I feel dirty saying this but I hope they win the league this season. Right off for a shower 👌🏻

  17. I think what chelsea is doing currently is sort of invalidating his point a little bit. Money doesn’t win you games no matter how many 100 million + signings you make. Albeit when you have 2 clubs like city and Liverpool who have equally competent managers in charge with a good structure in place behind them, then of course the extra money will make a difference. Considering Chelsea and I believe united have outspent city in recent years, I don’t see why city’s titles should be considered worthless

  18. Our billionaire has less billions than your billionaire. Liverpool aren’t some plucky underdog they’re one of the most dominant and highest paying teams in English football.

  19. “pity us… PITY US. Ohh thanks I will have the green Bugatti and the pink Ferrari for the wife like. PITY US!”

  20. Liverpool still have the second highest wage bill in the premier league of £373m per year, and spend a higher percentage of their revenue on player salaries.

I think for many Liverpool fans they were probably more shocked about 2005 than 2019(?).

  21. Based Trent coming in hard with the bants before Sunday 😂

  22. Last time I checked Liverpool weren’t under investigation for 115 financial rule violations. City should be stripped of their trophies and kicked down the football pyramid. They’re like the Lance Armstrong of football, only great because they cheated.

  23. There’s an entire alternate reality where Liverpool are never this good if Pep’s City doesn’t exist. Vice versa. Swings and roundabouts.

How Man City put themselves in a position to compete is one thing (cheating). But bags of money never scored or conceded goals.

I think if you asked Klopp what he regrets more, that City gamed the system or, for example, the dropped points in the 1 nil loss to Leicester in the 21 22 season after Salah missed a penalty, in a season where they lost the league by a point, have a feeling I know what he’d say.

  24. I totally agree with Trent:

Liverpool could only pay 85 mil for Nunez, 75 mil for Van Dijk, 67mil for Alison, 60 mil for Szobo, 52 mil for Keita, 45 mil for Jota, 45 for Diaz and 40 for Fabinho. 37 mil for Gakpo and 37 for Salach – so as you see – those expenses are mid table at best.

    Edit: forgot Macalister – 35-55mil

    Edit 2: Gravenberch and Konate 38 + 36 mil?

  25. Bless. After spending all the money back in the day and supporting FFP to win things the owners refuse to spend money now. The fanbase is pretty insufferable to be fair. Did this scouse muppet not get the memo? Cheap shots like this will spur on your rivals. Whoopsie.

  26. Bruh you have 19 titles and 6 UCLs. Obviously the titles will mean more to City fans cause they had very little success before

  27. Your own trophies always mean more to your own fanbase than trophies won by another team, acting as if Liverpool are some plucky underdogs is disingenuous, regardless of how the rabid fans are acting on Reddit

  28. Liverpool are desperate to pretend to be underdogs

  29. Bruh you have 19 titles and 6 UCLs. Obviously the titles will mean more to City fans cause they had very little success before. Just glory hunters sad that their glory hunted teams aren’t at the top anymore

  30. I’d rather spend our owners money than murder people …just saying

  31. I have Man City friends that constantly bang on about net spend. If you read into it that’s really fucking stupid

  32. ECB 🫱🏻🫲🏻 LFC

Moral victories for both of them.
