Ancelotti breaks silence as Prosecutor requests jail term for Real Madrid coach

This is something that I must have missed in previous reporting about Ancelotti ‘s tax case: the year in question is 2015, the year Real Madrid fired him. He was a resident until he was fired in mid-May, them he moved to Vancouver (prior to May 25) for spinal stenosis surgery and treatment:

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/may/25/carlo-ancelotti-west-ham-manager-surgery-real-madrid

He lived in Spain for less than five months, so he paid taxes in Italy (where he is a citizen). As far as I can tell, Spanish law says you have to pay taxes in Spain if you lived in Spain for more than 183 days. He lived in Spain for about 135-145 days (the exact date he left isn’t clear).

Such a weird case.

  1. Well, he will pay fine like numerous people did before him and his prison sentence will be suspended. Just one more normal day in Spain.

  2. You can’t go to prison if it’s one of the first times in Spain and you breaking the tax law…. he will maximum pay the fine, if even that
