Matches pretty well with my calculations (Chicago area).
Natural gas is just too cheap and weather too cold for a full replacement to make sense unless you’re on electric heat.
It would probably still worth getting a heat pump when you replace your AC, but just keep the same tonnage. Then you can use the heat pump in mild weather and probably realize some savings over gas, and you end up doing less wear and tear on the furnace so it would last longer anyway.
