  1. Ah Martin Nolan. Has to be the most lenient judge the country has ever seen. Disgrace. “Had a future in front of him” as a dealer.

  2. > He said it seemed the young man had mostly led a pro-social life and had a future before him

Just ignoring him being a drug dealer with drugs in his car. Just unbelievable.

  3. “He said there had not been any great speed involved, he had not taken any intoxicants, was not driving in any great reckless way but he was inattentive.”

Everyone here is guilty of that.

  4. It’s articles like these that made me advocate for a ***”Judge Martin fucking Nolan again”*** flair.

  5. >The judge said every driver was capable of inattention, and in such case the courts must look to see of there were any aggravating factors or any intentional misbehaviour that endangered road users.

Sure why would drivers pay attention when they can just kill people and not get punished….

  6. Ah yes but your license and livelihood goes straight into the bin if you smoked a lil joint over the weekend in your own home or even two weeks ago. We all live in fucking 🤡 land

  7. Sentences are outrageously lenient for an sort of driving offence causing death or serious injury it’s so fucking aggravating to see this shit time and time again

  8. Gotta keep the jail cells free for the lads with a couple of grams of weed! 🤦‍♂️

  9. Judge Nolan is the real genius here. Once he messes up (or discovered to have already messed up), he has his own cases to reference as precedence for punishment.

Personally, I hope he gets done for having some weed in his pocketses

  10. Absolute joke of a sentence, should have got at least 10 years, and banned for life.

  11. Surely the fact that he was drug dealing in the car removes any goodwill to argue a suspended sentence. If he wasn’t on the road doing something illegal, she’d still be alive.

  12. Hmmm
Super easy sentence. Could it be Judge Nolan?
    (Looks at link)
Why yes, judge Nolan it is.

  13. Why aren’t the so called “patriots” out protesting whenever an Irish person commits a crime? Or, do they only protest whenever foreign nationals commit crimes?

  14. “This seems like a very lenient sentencing decision for causing someone’s death….”

    *checks judges name*

    “Oh.”

  15. French women shouldn’t visit ireland. They get killed and no one goes down for it

  16. A family member of the deceased may swing a bat wildly through the air and it may accidentally come into contact with this drug dealers head. Nolan would then give him a free pass, right?

  17. They should ban those fucking ridiculous Canyoneros from the city centre nobody needs to be driving a dick compensation truck around there.

  18. Imagine your loved one being killed by this dick head and he just walks out free. People are gonna start taking the law into their own hands at this stage

  19. That’s so fucked up. The poor family, have these judges any sense at all? Or are they just there to pick up a fat cheque?

  20. This judge should be in jail for this, what a joke.

  21. I could carelessly describe things that I think should happen to the specific judge in this comment section and would end up in more trouble than this man that killed a woman.

  22. Is there anything that can be done about Judge Nolan? His sentencing is outrageous worthy of a documentary to highlight to the world that he is so grossly incompetent. There needs to be some pressure to get his act together or resign.

  23. Other countries don’t tolerate such a lack of consequences. Where’s the Justice for the poor woman that’s now dead because of this person?

  24. Not sure where all the outrage is coming from. This is pretty standard sentence when there is no speeding or reckless driving. Drugs are dealt in separate case.

  25. >He noted the maximum sentence for this offence is two years’ imprisonment.

Two years should be the minimum, not the maximum. Even two years minimum is still lenient for killing someone

  26. Why does this judge keep getting away with this? Has any politician ever called him out on his terrible decisions.

  27. Look, few people want a harsher criminal justice system than me, but this is correct. Scumbag aside it looks like a genuine mistake – he wasn’t drunk, he wasn’t speeding, he stopped the car and waited for the Gardai even knowing full well he’d likely be busted for the drugs he had in the car. “We’ll give you the benefit of the doubt but if it happens again we’ll come down on you hard” is the right answer here, and it’s *exactly* what suspended sentences are for, even if they are overused in Ireland in other cases.

  28. What would it take for a judge to be impeached if the likes of Nolan hasn’t been yet?

  29. All the neckbeard wannabe barristers are going to come out of the woodwork to defame the good character of one of the best judges in the country
