When it was snowy, these tyres worked great.

Then our 500 metre driveway turned into ice.
(We live out of town).

At first, I didn’t quite make it to the hill. From there, my car slid backwards down that hill with the wheels locked. I went a bit faster but the second time and made it to the top

Note: The road is curved

I regularly found black ice in town. I drove really slowly but the car still drifted. I worked around it and drove to the conditions.

I planned to keep these tyres. They are fantastic in plus degrees/wet conditions.

This was all good until we had a very light snow.
Like a dumb ass foreigner, I took my usual run up.
I went STRAIGHT into a snow pile that’s frozen solid.
(I’ve previously driven various vehicles, 3 winters, all studded tyres)

Let’s just say, my car and I didn’t enjoy that ride.

We changed to Nokian Studded tyres shortly after. I actually have grip and can slow down on ice hills now.

My father in law runs non studded tyres but
NEVER drives here. He doesn’t speak English so I’m asking you all.

What’s the appeal of non studded tyres
