90,000 troops prepare for largest ‘NATO exercise since Cold War’ following acquisition of weapons

Poland has signed a deal to buy anti-tank grenade launchers from Sweden’s Saab in a deal worth around 6.5 billion zlotys ($1.63 billion), Polish Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz said on Monday (March 4).

This year Poland is spending about 4% of gross domestic product (GDP) on defence as it seeks to strengthen its armed forces in the face of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The deal concerns the Carl-Gustaf M4 grenade launcher, which is intended to combat all types of modern combat vehicles.

In January, NATO launched its largest exercise since the Cold War, rehearsing how U.S. troops could reinforce European allies in countries bordering Russia and on the alliance’s eastern flank if a conflict were to flare up with a “near-peer” adversary.

Some 90,000 troops are due to join the Steadfast Defender 2024 drills that will run through May.

During a military drill on Monday, troops crossed Poland’s Vistula River with tanks and military equipment from different countries as part of the exercises.

The drills rehearse NATO’s execution of its regional plans, the first defence plans the alliance has drawn up in decades, detailing how it would respond to a Russian attack.

Kosiniak-Kamysz also confirmed the object that fell in a field in north-eastern Poland was a weather balloon.

Earlier on Monday, the Fakt tabloid reported that a military object had fallen near the town of Milakowo.

  2. Between all the allies & Russia, when this war starts between Russia & NATO & surely it will, fully expect no less than 2-3 million boots on the ground in Ukraine & 6-8 million if China gets involved.

  4. Well if you take under consideration the difference of that time and nowadays it’s completely different time!!
    Cold War was between Soviet Union with many Eastern European countries brilliant minds!!!
    Nowadays almost all Eastern European countries are part of European Union, and bully Russia realise that their success was based on those nations that were bullied by Russia into some imperialism of Russia. They are and were different nations with different mentality that was based on their genetics despite their social life. You can manipulate social systems but you can’t control the gene that was created to begin with!!!
    Nowadays it’s time of technology!!!

    Technology is much more advanced than Russian technology!!! They pride is greater than what they worth!!!

  10. I’m genuinely curious how long it will take the soft Europeans and the soft Chinese to get used to and adapt to the pace of modern combat when it all goes hot.

    I think these EU betas will be surprised and overwhelmed, much like they were in the second world war.

  15. Russia cannot cope with Ukraine, let alone 32 countries that will help each other in times of war. Russia is afraid of us and Putin should not even try to attack any of our countries, because the force of the attack will be huge.💪

  26. Acting collectively, it does not cost much to defend Europe; it is enough that everyone starts spending 2% of GDP. Common European defense projects should be long-term projects, and the foundation of security should currently be NATO and 2% of GDP. NATO also needs to build a rapid reaction force about 300,000 people.

  29. Unless they are practicing fighting without any air power or air coverage after their entire air forces are shot down by Russian integrated air defenses or neutralized on the ground.

    Unless they are practicing having all their communications satellites and radios jammed under all kind of Electronic Warfare scenarios and anti satellite capabilities.

    Unless they are practicing being showered by 20 000 to 60 000 rounds of artillery shells a day.

    Unless they are practicing having columns of their tanks and APCs attacked blown up by swarms and swarms of AI drones with penetrative explosive warheads.

    Unless they are practicing having their command centers, maintenance equipment and logistic routes bombed by hypersonic, supersonic cruise and ballistic Missiles.

    Unless they are practicing running out of ammunition and artillery these guys don't have a clue of what the heck they are doing or have absolutely no clue of what would be like facing the Russian military in war.

    I don't even see any artillery.

    NATOs games in Ukraine is giving Russia 2 years of priceless battlefield experience to practice and hom Russian tactics, technology, weapons systems, skills set, battlefield experience and officer corps experience.

    This war is not making NATO stronger.

    It's making Russia stronger and NATO Weaker.

    If these green NATO armies went to war with this battle hardened Russian military the Russians would mop the floor with them.

    It wouldn't even be a contest.

    They would literally run them around in circles.

    It would be a massacre.

    These guys don't even know how to fight without air power or with Jammed communications and satellite signals nevermind being plummeted by swarms of AI drones.

    Furthermore, the Russians have mastered their mobilization capabilities.

    They have fixed their mass mobilization process, it's facilities.

    They now have a efficient system of massive mobilization of their population by building the facilities and equipment needed for mass mobilization.

    They have fixed, and refurbished their weapons manufacturing military complex for mass War production.

    NATO on the other hand is not able to mass mobilize, doesn't have the facilities or the system to mass mobilize and it's military industrial capacity is unable to go into war production.

    The West would run out of men and equipment quickly in a war against Russia while Russia could easily call up and mobilize millions of men in just a days and weeks.

    They could also crank up mass production of weapons very quickly.

    They would all get slaughtered.

    That is my verdict.

Nato had all but surrounded Russia, and still nato advanced eastwards despite previous agreements between old east West leaders that they wouldn't, is it any wonder vlad spat his dummy out, what would uk or America do if it was suddenly surrounded by a hostile nation??? Putin once asked to become a nato member they told him to fxxk of! Why? The elites want perpetual war. Keep feeding the military industrial complex.
