In addition to our five a day and our 10,000 steps we should all be aiming for at least five minutes of reading every day for invaluable benefits for brain health and mental well-being just as we always suspected books are good for us and now science is proving us

The Queen joins guests, including actresses Helena Bonham Carter CBE and Dame Joanna Lumley, at Clarence House, to celebrate the results of The Queen’s Reading Room study into the link between reading fiction and wellbeing, which has proven a clear link between reading fiction and increased mental health, brain health and social connectedness. Her Majesty has long championed a love of reading across generations and is passionate about shining a light on the importance of literature. Report by Marek Czubala.
