The overlooked detail in all of this is that Alonso’s release clause cant be triggered until 2025, so its not like he had any choice

1. If he wanted to move, I’m sure Liverpool would just have to pay out his contract regardless of a release clause in his contract. 

2. Pretty sure he had a clause that he could move to a club he had previously played at if he wanted to

3. Seen a fair amount of Liverpool talk about him as if he’s theirs already, glad for Leverkusen that he has decided to stay, their fans must be very happy

4. Managers can leave whenever they want, the club he goes to just has to be willing to pay compensation.. this isn’t like players where clubs hold the registration and can easily stop them moving to new clubs.
