Germany begins deployment of permanent Lithuania brigade in first since WWII • FRANCE 24 English

Germany on Monday began the permanent deployment of a military brigade in Lithuania with an advance contingent of 20 soldiers arriving in Vilnius and 150 more to join them by year’s end, marking the first time since World War II that German forces will be based outside the country on a long-term basis.

  1. This is the European border, after all. Lithuania guards it well, but this will be much, much better. Many Lithuanians thought of Germans as friends much more and longer than you might think. Now alies and friends. These are truly a good times.

  2. it is good to see Germany getting over it's hump about being a permanent military representative for other nations. They're the only superpower (or at least developing towards superpower) most of the civilised world actually trusts. I'd far rather have German troops as my country's core ally than American

  4. Bunch of warmongers. This is “we learn our past lesson” Germany. Germany has learned nothing. Germany has done nothing but escalate the Ukraine conflict. If Germany “learn their lesson” they wouldn’t be in a military alliance and would be neutral.

  5. Yes,Americans taxpayers money used in German,to secure the interest of a few westerns Elites,while the majority of their citizens struggle to make end meet.
