  1. Well, Johnson appears to be following through as he said he would. I wonder if she-whose-name-I-have-blissfully-forgotten is going to step up and try to oust him?

  2. I follow American politics only from a (safe, I hope…) distance. So perhaps someone here can explain: What exactly will the House be voting for by 20 april? Have they now completely decoupled the aid for Ukraine from other issues? I believe that was the main problem before now, right? What are the predictions for how the vote will go? And if they vote in favour of more aid for Ukraine then will the transport planes be in the air by that same evening, or are there still more obstacles to overcome?

  3. I believe all this is stalling tactics and is attributed to Trumps trial, and I personally want to see him in jail.

  4. I’ve said this 100 times. They want to demilitarize and demoralize Russia. If they gave the weaponry needed to push Russia out, Russia would still have the bulk of their weaponry and soldiers alive, sanctions would become unjustified and in 5-10 years Russia would build up and try again. If they prolong the conflict so as Russia thinks it can win and keeps committing resources and dismantling their economy to wartime, by the end of the war they’ll be a shell of their former Regime, making it easier to deal with them geopolitically for the foreseeable future. I’d go so far to say that this delay in funding from the US is also to show non-believers that US support is paramount to the success of Ukraine. “See, without us they cannot win”

They don’t want to deter Russia, they want to bleed them out.

  5. So they can celebrate Hitler’s birthday after they vote it down?

  6. A great, crude, strong, young people are the Americans – like a boisterous healthy boy among enervated but well bred ladies and gentlemen . . . Picture to yourself the American people as a great lusty youth – who treads on all your sensibilities, perpetrates every possible horror of ill manners – whom neither age nor just tradition inspire with reverence – but who moves about his affairs with a good hearted freshness which may well be the envy of older nations of the earth [Winston S. Churchill to his brother Jack]

From New York in November 1895, just short of his 21st birthday, Churchill wrote to his mother:

“What an extraordinary people the Americans are! Their hospitality is a revelation to me, and they make you feel at home and at ease in a way that I have never before experienced.”

To his brother, he wrote: “This is a very great country, my dear Jack. It’s not pretty or romantic but great and utilitarian. There seems to be no such thing as reverence or tradition. Everything is eminently practical, and things are judged from a matter of fact standpoint.

Now the US can prove that this greatness is still there.

The draft text of the bill which allows aid to Ukraine has been published. Key highlights:

The bill obliges the US president to hand over ATACMS to Ukraine as soon as possible after it enters into force

In total $61 billion will be allocated, of which $23 billion to replenish DoD stocks

Assistance is planned to be provided on a loan basis
Confiscation of Russian assets is expected to cover the cost in the future

The bill requires The Pentagon / State Department to provide a clear US strategy for Ukraine within 45 days.

This is what we need. This is a path forward that may well turn the tide in this war.

  7. Speaker Johnson deserves extremely bad things, as do the people who support him. Putin is literally committing genocide, looting, stealing his neighbors’ land, and murdering a young democracy, expanding an empire committed to the destruction of the free world. While these assholes continue to put all of our lives at risk, and get wealthy doing so, we must fund Ukraine’s defense by donating immediately, not “by 20 April”, to [https://u24.gov.ua/](https://u24.gov.ua/)

  8. I’ll believe it when I see it. Yet I feel more hopeful today than yesterday.

  9. OK party whips, get out there and whip your caucus for the votes. In the case of the GOP, possibly literally.

  10. I’ll believe it when I see it…. Fuck these assholes for delaying this and costing lives and allowing Russia to strength their defensive lines and begin an offensive push in areas again.

  11. Caniving prick… power hungry sh1t will R0T in h3LL. 🩸on his hands

  12. If it reaches the floor its basically guaranteed to pass right?

  13. What this absolute motion and his associates don’t understand is that they’ve essentially guaranteed that this war will become worse, and now has a much higher chance of spreading.

You Americans really need to clean out your house… it’s full of Russian filth.

  14. He is one of the most useless people in any government that has ever existed. Let’s fix non-existant issues, or worse yet, try to enact bans on things that are already enacted in law.

These delays are killing Ukrainians and need to cease now.

Stop dicking around and get Ukraine the funding and aide it deserves and needs already!

    Slava Ukraini!

  15. Biden should just do a few executive orders like Trump and Obama

  16. U blow Trump on 19th and on 20th you slick mf change plan or something illegals can’t vote law to try misdirect the focus.

  17. He’ll go on another five vacations before doing his job

  18. I’ll believe it when I see it. This fucker is about as trustworthy as Putin himself.

  19. GOP totally flopped. I vote Republican primarily and all these people in Congress completely disappointed me when it comes to supporting Ukraine. Everyone knows Russia is an enemy of the USA. If there is anything we can do to help another nation destroy Russias army we should support them especially since Russia is the aggressor attacking a democratic nation. They constantly attack us through cyber warfare so why not allow free reign on their demise.
Personally, I think we should release the limits the Biden administration put on Ukraine on what they can and can’t do with the weapons and ammunition we gave them so they can strike the mainland and fully support their air defense that Russia has contested with our technology.

I’m not turning blue but I’m not going to vote for these people the next election cycle.

    I hate Russia.

  20. Why all the hate for Mike Johnson? The guy actually supports funding Ukraine. He is actually risking his position to push forward the vote (some want to oust him for this), because he wants Ukraine to get its funding. He WANTS to help Ukraine. I think we actually lucked out having him nominated as speaker of the house. At lot of Republicans would not support funding Ukraine to the extent he is.

  21. pushed down the road a bit more..wonder what the excuse will be on the 20th
