Thiago Silva: The Unexpected Chelsea Legend

  1. Huge respect for Silva. Goes down as one of the greatest center backs in history. What a player. Defied all odds coming to Chelsea at 35 to win the UCL a year after he’d lost it with PSG. Absolute world class player. Hope the best for him.

  2. It’s a shame he’s ended his top level career with two mid table finishes.

I really expected him to be one of the Centre-Backs pushing for a Balon d’Or (despite how little emphasis I put on it as a trophy) from when he was at AC Milan.

I really think that taying at PSG so long damaged that prospect and then the downfall at Chelsea in recent years I think meant he just wasn’t destined to really reach those levels.
