Major fucking props to Tuchel, Maz and Laimer yesterday evening.
Is the Bernabeu really that scary? I‘ve seen it completely silenced when Real don‘t dominate. Plus our away fans are not to be discounted that easily.
I’m really happy for Sané. I hope his goal gives him confidence again. I love Robben’s comment about it:
>He knows exactly how you need to do it: Run quickly, simply cut inside and shoot in the corner. Leroy does it perfectly. That’s really a super goal.
Now we know what he did a few days ago when he visited our training. I vote for Robben as Sané’s personal coach.
Hope team uses all their strength during the second leg . it will be a do or die situation . The atmosphere at santiago will not be as big as allianz
Watched our 2 conceded goals again on angles from the stands and I’m still mad at Kim’s incompetence man feels like he totally lost his head in the game. Could be inexperienced in big matches as he’s a late bloomer but I always thought he got really solid fundamentals for defenders and can’t believe he committed such basic mistakes.
Really hurt to say this (I’m an asian myself) but these tricky South American players will always have that edge over the Asian ones.
just saw Fab post that we are close to appointing Rangnick. What are your guys’ takes, cuz i don’t know much about the dude
One of the really interesting things about last night for me is that we consistently have top level defenders absolutely fail at our club. I’m not talking about Upamecano as he was young when he came here.
But Kim was an absolute wall last year, and it’s very similar to when we signed Benatia. We basically bought one of the quickest, strongest, most dynamic defenders in the world. And within a season, both of them seem to forget the important parts of defending. Some of Kim’s play yesterday was better than any defensive play I’ve seen at Bayern the last few seasons. But what’s the point if you’re going to also make 2 basic errors.
I know Min Jae made mistakes, but to pin the draw solely on him wouldn’t be fair.
De Ligt is definitely a better defender with a greater form than Kim, but we are still facing a Madrid attack that has ravaged even City which has one of the best defense in the world.
Frankly, conceding two was highly likely, given how Madrid’s UCL campaign has been. They put 4 past City just to mention.
I’m more upset with the lack of capitalising our chances up front. Some were great chances which we should have scored early on. I’m only hoping that a more fit Gnabry, Sane and Musiala will show up at the Bernabeu. These players did well yesterday, but took some time to come into the game.
Regardless, really hoping we have a completely fit squad for the return leg
Bummer that it ended up in a 2-2 draw BUT we got everything to play for. We really show fighting spirit yesterday. We go into the 2nd leg with a slight disadvantage but with De Ligt fit we can do this
Last 2 times we went to Bernabeu we had half of our squad injured, we got robbed, and they had a better team than they have now (half of the players they had then were in their prime, Ronaldo, Modrić… even Keylor Navas was insane against us).
Now, we have a very solid squad, missing a few players but its not that big of a deal (like Neuer back in 2018). Realy hope De Light can play the second leg. We also went there with a 1 goal disadvantage. So in that regard we are already in a better spot than previous 2 times.
We also fought like lions, and we fought against 4 opponents (injuries, referees, the athmosphere and their squad) and we menaged to pull a very good fight. Getting to extra time once, pulling a 2-1 victory in the 90 minutes, losing only in extra time to 2 offside goals, injured Neuer and Hummels. The second time we pulled a 2-2 draw, dominating a whole match. Navas was insane, we got robbed by 2 penalties and we missed like 10 chances (that Muller chance in the dying minutes of the match still hounts me right behind that Tollisso backpass)
We lost 2 trophies this season already, we can go all in next week. Plus we have VAR now so no more shaddy goals and penalties not given. The referee yestarday was amazing, he controlled the match perfectly, hopping the ref in Madrid does the same job. Real is always a hard opponent, especialy in UCL, but so are we.
We can deff pull the win, knocking them out on their terrain would be a perfect way to get revenge, plus it wont be the first time we did something like that. I belive in the team and hopefuly they belive aswell.

If De Ligt isn‘t back for game 2 we‘re cooked.
This season was crazy, several players getting injured multiple times. The board really fucked Tuchel on this.
Kim needs to learn that at a top club like Bayern everyone fights for themselves and he can’t always rely on others to have his back. He needs to take fewer risks and try and play it safe.
Perhaps you still remember my outsider position on Kim. this match has only solidified it.
Our CB situation as it is makes little sense unless we can rely on Upa. Which we can’t. So restructure the squad regarding the CB position. Sell the valuable bench warmers (Upamecano, Kim), see who we already have for next season (De Ligt, Dier, Stanisic) and sign a CB whose profile completes that lineup. (Left footed, skilled in buildup, preferably quick. E.g. Mario Hermoso)
Then use the huge transfer surplus to finance big moves on other positions.
Nevermind the CB situation, do we even start Goretzka in the 2nd leg? At the start when we pressed well to force them to go long with Goretzka and Laimer we pretty much win every headers and second balls and we got total control in that phase, and we built up well using a 2-1-5-2 shape overloads, but when the game settled down and we conceded Goretzka was a non-factor again.
Props to Tuchel to make the Guerreiro sub to switch back to 4-2-3-1 build up, got us beautiful moments where Sane got the 1v1 or Muller dragged out Kroos to get the attack going. With that said, should we start with Rapha there, knowing it reduces our physical apresence in the midfield and potentially have no one to take Bellingham out of the game?
I hope Goretzka gets some rest this weekend, while he’s looked great for the past month/month and a half, he looked really slow yesterday. I think all of those minutes are starting to take their toll on him especially with the frantic pace we were playing at in those first 20-30 minutes.
Since the turn of the year, Goretzka, Kimmich, and Kane iirc have had the most minutes but none of their positions(Kimmich has been playing RB since February) are as cardio intensive as Goretzka’s even though Kimmich and Kane have fantastic work rates for their respective positions.
Tuchel really created new Kante from Laimer.
Forgive me if this question has been over asked (because I haven’t been active on this sub for super long)…
But what is our sub’s take on Tuchel leaving even if he was able to win the Champions League?
Personally I think it will be terrible terrible optics. Players and managers would just see that and be turned off by Bayern
I don’t know how much it’s worth reading into but it’s wild to me that Kim has moved club every single season since he left China.
I imagine that having to change club, country and culture every year can have quite a big impact on rhythm, confidence and comfort. Combine that with sporadic appearances over the last few weeks, it’s not surprising that his form has struggled.
We should be going to the bernebau with a 2-0 lead or more let’s be honest here. We can still work with 2-2 but I can’t shake the disappointment.
So glad the away goals rule is no longer a thing. It makes the second leg so much more exciting when there is everything to play for on both sides!
I love watching Mazraoui play. At LB, he has become a man possessed. I think he did well to foul Bellingham before he got in the box in those rare Madrid forays. Plus that tackle on Diaz was sublime
Kim needs to learn to like Dier just cover your back and do the basics right. Don’t leave your position. Don’t do risky passes. Don’t cover for anyone else, in fact, if you sense any risks look for ways to put the blame someone else. It’s not worth it lol.
Just watched the replay, since I couldn’t watch the game live yesterday.
I’m so frustrated about the first 20 minutes. We were all over them and could have easily had a two goal lead if we were more clinical.
Nevertheless, good game all around and a special shout out to Laimer. If we find an additional 5% in the Bernabeu, I think we have a good chance to make it to the final.
Alright, I was just thinking, best games and form we had ever since tuchel has been our coach is from the time that they announced we part ways with him. The players don’t necessarily hate him by the comments I have seen from them and for example the rumours about kimmich not wanting to play at RB and he will riot if not playing at six were somehow made up by the media and overblown. So the thing that changed, in my opinion, is the fact that tuchel doesn’t care about internal pressures from higher ups anymore and coaches the team however he see fit. My point is our higher ups instead of supporting the coach , usually sabotage him ,intentionally or not. Just look at summer transfer window and how thin the our squad became or even recently Uli’s comments. And It’s not just tuchel, Nagelsmann, Flick too had several problems with the board as i remember, they don’tlet the coaches do their jobs, now i am not saying that tuchel and the coaches before him are not the ones to blame, i just don’t see this behaviour and environment in other clubs in other clubs, at least not top and successful clubs.
