Erik ten Hag is held in high esteem & FCB’s hierarchy believe EtH’s coaching been hampered by litany of off-field issues&poor operational set-up at Utd. His work at Ajax and his debut season in England has been given more credence than the current injury-riddled campaign…

  1. Bayern and their coaches are like me trying to pick my next Warhammer army. Every day I want to start collecting another one… and every day I seriously mean it!

  2. Thankfully a litany of off field issues and poor operational setup don’t exist here.

  3. Considering all the remaining names (not getting my hopes up for Pep) I actually quite like ETH as an option. He knows the club, speaks German, was excellent at Ajax and even the first season with ManU was really good. In the 2022/2023 season ETH finished 3rd in the premier league, won EFL Cup, lost the FA cup final and lost in the quarter-finals of CL…that’s definitely not bad. Yes this season is worse but united also has a lot of injured players throughout the season.

  4. Always wanted him at Bayern before his utd stint, might not be a bad shout

  5. I’d not be thrilled but I also say let’s give him his chance. I would rather have kept Tuchel or kept Nagelsmann even before, but here we are. Of the available coaches Erik ten Hag is a really good option imo.

  6. I quite like the idea of ETH. I remember thinking he might be a potential future coach for us because of his past with the club and his success at Ajax. The only problem is: He is currently unavailable, isn’t he?

  7. He was always a talented coach and is held in high regard by Pep who he worked alongside at Bayern back in the day. And he isn’t unproven, he has picked up plenty of silverware during his time at Ajax.

But of course his recent tenure at Man U has damaged his reputation greatly.

However maybe his time at Man U could serve as a learning experience. Man U is a truly dysfunctional club and being the manager is no doubt a stressful experience. But maybe working in such a stressful environment could mold a potentially great manager. He surely knows now exactly what not to do.

    It’s just my theory.

  8. Finally! This is the one I’ve been waiting for. And given Tuchels desire to return to England, this could workout!

  9. I hate ETH and hope he will never come back to coach our team… would be such a terrible choice. and he hasnt proven anything on the highest level yet. he has only shown that he cant handle all the different characters (top players) in a team. and thats one of the most important skills for a club like ours where team management is key.

  10. Hire Bill Belichick. He’s got world championships and is the greatest football coach of all time

  11. I think, he is the best real option we currently have… he has been at the club before and has proven himself as a good coach at Ajax.

  12. While noting the irony, yes, can definitely buy that Ten Hag still might end up being far more successful here than he was at Manchester United is quite plausible. Even just the fact that he has experience with FCBII is a major key to that, as he’s going to come in with more familiarity and ease than he did at ManU.

The search at this point is pretty much whatever. Hard to truly be excited about anyone knowing they’re like a fourth- or fifth-choice, but Ten Hag would be solid enough for me.

  13. He was a small club player with excellent communicative skills with his fellow defenders at Twente where I saw as a teenager. Classy guy who was never flashy, let his actions do the talking for him. Good balance of freedom to be creative and high expectations of professionalism and routine as a manager, one of the few Gen X coaches who doesn’t try to be everyone’s friend but makes you better through good film assessment and observations that lead to effective constructive criticism mixed with positive affirmations of good decision making on the field. Had peculiar management at Ajax in the front office and still won and rejuvenated the careers of multiple veterans and balancing them with the standard overbloated youth academy obligations, he changed the way Ajax did business short term for the better and made them a serious club again for a few brief years.

  14. I wonder who will be praised next after this one flops as well…. and is their aim to play as bad as UTD ?
