Hey Dear People.

I think you all fell for the noise and fuss that the agent created.

1. It's heavily impied that there is a condition in Roque's contract that if he plays half the games in the 2nd half of the season Barca has to pay extra 5 million.

We played 25 games already, and have 4 left in the league. That comes to 29:

https://www.transfermarkt.com/fc-barcelona/spielplandatum/verein/131/plus/0?saison_id=2023&wettbewerb_id=&day=&heim_gast=&punkte=&datum_von=01.01.2024&datum_bis=

Roque played 11 League games, 2 Cup games that comes to 13.

This means he only has 1 game left, no more. I think Xavi wants to give Roque as much minutes as possible, which means he will start one game this season. Problem is, we only had crucial games for weeks now.. and since we lost to Girona.. all other games will be crucial as well to make it to next season's super cup.

2. Why bring him early then?

It was already implied in December that he will be hold back:

https://www.barcablaugranes.com/2023/12/28/24017382/barcelona-plan-for-vitor-roque-involves-a-slow-start-and-learning-from-robert-lewandowski

Slow start. It's heavily rumored that we will send Lewy away in the summer, and we needed Roque to learn from him. That was 1 thing why it was important to get him in January even if we wanted to give him limited game time.

Other than that, he has time to show off in training, learn the language, the city, the team mates, etc.

There is a Copa America this summer. Had he make it into the Brazillian team for Copa, and had we not sign him in January, we certainly wouldn't sign up until the Copa is over for Brazil, which could mean that negotiations restart in July when the league starts in August…. and his price could also go up plenty. It would have been stupid not to take the deal then. Deco deserves CREDIT!

3. There is no Xavi-Roque drama, or Deco-Xavi drama. That is just the media.

Xavi was playing Roque and plenty of reports said that he was worked with extra to make him understand positional play. If above dramas were true, and Xavi wanted revenge on Deco, why would he even play Roque to exactly just below the half of all games?? That makes 0 sense. If he wanted a DM and got Roque and thus Xavi wouldn't wanna play Roque and Xavi wanted revenge on Deco, then Roque would have 0 minutes. That is all lies.

Why the noise? The agent realized what was happening.. he wants his own cut from the extra money and created all the fuss to put pressure on the club.

4. It's not quite nice from the club to do this, but it's not something that can be penalized. Atlético did the same with Griezmann, to deny Barca some fees when he was loaned there.

5. We heavilty underachieved this season. While 5 mil is a lot, it's not exatlcy the end of the word… unless we didn't bring in enough money and now this 5 mil matters a lot more. We went thropyless. CL was nice but also not remarkable. 2nd place is out of our hands. It's quite possible that Laporta told Xavi to bench Vitor, because Barca again had to cut costs.

6. Xavi is in love with old slow Lewy and hates Roque… (added in edit)

Old Lewy was subbed of againts Real (64. mintue) and Girona (79. minute). Also againts Las Palmas (81. minute, for Roque actually). Xavi is not afraid to sub off Lewy. Xavi is not afraid to start 16 years olds in the CL. Xavi has infinitely more football knowledge than anyone who ever wrote on reddit.

TLDR: Investigating this situation with logic it's easy to realize there is no reason to hate on Xavi, Deco, or anyone. It happened as it happened and it's not the end of the world. Vitor rumors are live now cause our seaason is done, so it's already summer transfer season there…

Edit: grammar and please stop the hate and think like logical beings, not like children please.

  1. Totally agree. Xavi sees Vitor on a daily basis, and being 19 moving to a different CONTINENT can be hard and difficult. There is no rushing him. Obviously I would like to see him get more play time, but from the minutes he’s been playing he hasn’t blown me over (yet). Though I do see glimpses of potential in his rapid movement and eagerness to get the ball. I hope it gets sorted as these kinds of news around the club never will be a good thing. I would imagine next season seeing a lot more of Vitor.

  2. The 50% of games is based on games he plays 45 minutes or more. That is the standard of thos clauses
Remember Griezmann coming from the bench?

  3. I would like to believe this is the case but that doesn’t explain why the player’s agent blasted the club like that. He made some valid points in what he said. If this is all going to plan for Barca then why keep the player and his agent in the dark?
