Chinese President Xi Jinping in France, speaks with President Macron about Russia

Chinese president xiin ping is meeting with his French counterpart in Paris today as part of a multi-day trip across Europe it is his first since the pandemic he held talks with both French president Emanuel macron and European commission president Ursula Von deran it’s expected they will discuss efforts to end Russia’s war in Ukraine CBS News foreign correspondent elae Cobb is in Paris and joins us now uh Elaine um talk to us more about what the presidents of China and France are seeking to accomplish through this visit well this visit marks 60 years of official relations between France and China but it’s not ceremonial not just top of of macron’s list today is Ukraine Because he believes that President Chi because of his closed ties with Russian leader Vladimir Putin could help to restore peace and stability in the region and in fact ahead of this visit president Chi said he was willing to work with France and the International Community to find what he called the right path to solve the crisis now next on the list is business because in postco times France is hoping to beef up the contract it has there French companies will be hoping to renegotiate new ones and renew old ones and China is looking of course to sell some of its Surplus production for example electric cars to France so this is the first time we’re seeing Xi Jinping go to Europe since the pandemic and I thought to myself you know now part of the messaging here I’m sure is hey Russia I have other friends hey America I have other friends why is this trip in Europe being so closely watched by officials in Washington we are expecting president Chi to try to persuade president macron to pull back a bit from the US and that’s part of his aim at loosening the US grip on global dominance China very much likes to see itself as a major player Now France uh recently said that it has no desire to be a vassel to the US but maon also very strongly saying the US is a strong Ally of both France and Europe there’s also the issue of course of Ukraine this visit to France comes just over a week after secretary of state blinkin was in China where he warned um president Chi against supplying the goods that can help to build up Munitions used by Russia in Ukraine and president macron repeated that more as a request and an encouragement because of course France doesn’t have the same clout but just to show that they are indeed both on the same page all right elene thank you very much

    Xi Jinping, who commits genocide against humanity, should be imprisoned. To allow it to circulate like this and deceive the world is a disgrace to the moral depravity of mankind.

  8. All puppets of the US. Go, go to fight in Ukraine but when you return to France your most likely going to notice that Russia has used it's nukes on your nation. Only fair, you attack Russia and they attack you.

  10. US politicians openly talk about going to war with China in a couple of years. If Russia falls, Xi knows knows that China is next. Why on earth would Xi cooperate with the West in back-stabbing Putun just because the US & Europe cannot compete with China on a fair economics playing field ?

  19. Actually NATO leaders trying to force China to pressure Russia to stop the war is a silly effort. Firstly because China and Russia are both sovereign countries which do not take orders from anyone. And also because China and Russia are neighbouring countries, they will never want to unnecessarily aggravate each other for no good reason. Currently China and Russia have the best bilateral relations with each other and it just doesn't make any sense for China to rock that boat for western interests.

  21. . Macron negotiates early with China. First, China must be defeated in an indirect political confrontation – only then will it abandon its ambitions and follow realistic policies. Only then can you negotiate with him. Ukraine's victory over Russia, in the presence of Chinese aid, is China's political defeat. Ukraine’s victory without China’s help to Russia is not a political defeat for China – it is strategic uncertainty for the West. China will think it surrendered to Russia for tactical reasons, but it itself appears strong and the fight is yet to come. If Ukraine receives a lot of weapons, it will defeat not only Russia, but also China itself (in an indirect conflict). Unfortunately, this is not understood in the West.

Puttin years ago giving hand shakes in meanwhile he will try to take Taiwan. He have absolutely no respect for human life just like Puttin cleaning all Uygurs, people from Tibete controlled by huge armies.
