The Royal Family’s Ties to the Army Air Corps

His Majesty The King has passed on his role as Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corps to his son, Prince William.

The official handover took place at the Army Aviation Centre.

The role was held by Charles, as Prince of Wales, for 31 years.

Prince William served as a search and rescue pilot and later as an air ambulance pilot.

In 2008, he was awarded his pilot’s wings by his father, with a young Kate Middleton watching on.

Then in 2010, William graduated as a helicopter pilot at RAF Shawbury.

  1. I thought Harry couldn’t pass the written test and so never became a pilot. He was called copilot, I believe.

  3. This channel, I have no idea if you were paid by Harry to word this video the way you have done, though it seems like so. Go Get your facts right and stop with the 'if Harry didn't leave, he would have been' or saying stuff like 'unlike Harry BLA BLA bullsh**t…

The King appointed HRH Prince William as the Colonel – in – Chief of the Army Air Corps in August 2023. This is a position the King previously held when he was the Prince of Wales, a position now held by HRH Prince William. Harry has nothing to do with this military appointment.

Congratulations to HRH Prince William 👑, our Colonel – in – Chief.

  4. King Charles could also fly but only fixed wing, trained by the RAF when P of W, sometimes took the controls on a Royal Flight. Andrew can also fly helicopters, was an RN pilot in the Falklands campaign. Would sometimes land one in the garden of Buckingham Palace when visiting the Queen.

  5. It's always Prince of Wales who is Colonel-in- Chief. Never somebody else. Please keep it factual and keep sensational suggesties out of the story

  6. God Bless King Charles III & Congratulations to The Prince of Wales. This honor is passed down from former Prince of Wales to the current Prince of Wales 🙏🇺🇸
