Russia was able to open a new front in north-eastern Ukraine because of delays in the supply of Western weapons to the frontline, the head of the region under attack has claimed.

  5. Russian President Vladimir Putin's proposal to appoint former Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov as new Defence Minister came as a surprise decision for Ukraine. Verkhovna Rada deputy from the Batkivshchyna party Oleksiy Kucherenko noted that "this looks tragic indeed.”

    Ukrainian economist Alexey Kushch believes that Belousov's appointment comes as bad news for Kyiv. The expert suggested that this would lead to a sharp increase in the dynamics of the Russian military-industrial complex (MIC) and a growth in Russia's military production.

    Kushch called Belousov the person who played an important role in creating "a model of Russian economic growth, deep structural transformations and adaptation to sanctions.”

  14. Once again Ukraine is playing exactly the game that Russia wants it to. Land can always be retaken, especially if the occupiers' supplies and communications are cut off. Indeed occupiers will often leave of their own accord once this starts to happen. Russia, with its far greater manpower, that Putin considers expendable, wants to spread out Ukrainian forces, and redirect their attacks which would be much more effective elsewhere. It's much more important that Ukraine fights smarter rather than just harder!

  15. Sky News UK will one day have to come clean on how many serving British special forces have lost their lives in Ukraine on behalf of Tory party donors and their financial interests.
